The news page lists that ICQ is now interopertable with AOL 8.0. I tried it with 8.0, and it apparently is not. I went to the ICQ site and it says 8.0+ or above. Anyone disagree with this?
Jeremy
When I first added my friend on my ICQ, she was using AOL 8.0 and we were unable to see each other on-line so she just upgraded to AOL 8 Plus in order for us to see each other on-line.
Since AOL has upgraded to AOL 9.0, they may have updated AOL 8.0 to get the features to work.
My advice is if you are searching for news, try to find the most recent articles. 🙂

This is news just posted on the main page of BigBlueBall. I just tried this earlier today and it would not work with 8.0. My point was to let everyone know that it is incorrect information. It is even listed at http://www.aim.com/tango as Aim 8.0+ or higher.

Jeff’s article is slightly wrong, you need AOL 8.0+ (Plus) not 8.0 and up, download the Plus version, and I’m sure it will work for you. It should not list the regular version of 8.0 as being compatible.
I apologize I just overlooked the just-released article here. You’re right it won’t work with AOL 8. I just downloaded it, I still cannot see myself on-line. So whoever wrote the article should say it works on AOL 8 Plus and higher rather than saying AOL 8 and higher.
The article looks correct to me. 🙂 But maybe somebody fixed it?
Yes the article was edited I believe by Jeff just minutes ago…
so 2003b works with this now and has anyone tried it to make sure it acutally works?
Evan… Yes, I had been using ICQ Pro 2003b from the day when AOL released it. It works beautifully with no problems for me. Hope this is of any help.
