I have a case of an assualt in which an employee in my company is trying to frame me for an icq message that he claims was sent by me. The message was sent last friday by an account that was created for the purpose of the assualt. The employee took a snap shot of the message that shows that it was from “NET-IT” to his IP address. It also shows the message’s UIN and his. Our company is investigating the IP address in which the message came from. Our network engineers looked into the logs on the server and stated that it came within the company. Since the person trying to frame me is the IT supervisor, the network engineers changed their answer and said it might have been from someone outside.
My question is, is it possible to locate the IP from the message that was sent? if not, is it possible to locate the IP address of the account that was created.
Thanks,
Sam
