MemberI have noticed a lot of people on here recommending people to d/l yahoo add on programs that you don’t really need, from my perspective, ytunnel is the only yahoo program worth messin with. I think everyone should have their computer crashed at least once. It really changes how u look at d/l anything. It’s no fun to lose everything on your hard drive, and then have to spend hours and hours reformatting. The way i look at it the odds of getting a trojan/virus if you don’t d/l any program at all is 0%, the odds after d/l any single program greatly increase, and they go up every time you d/l another program, yes i understand their are “safe sites” to d/l from, but you never really know, you can have the best anti-virus anti-trojan scanners and still have it happen, and I have known people who have hex edited programs and not catch things. The thing that bothers me the most about viruses, is that for the most part, the people who use them, have no idea who their victims are.

Memberlets not start the ytunnel discussion again… personally i dont trust it… note i said PERSONALLY…..
but *shock* i agree….some yahoo add ons may leave you at risk…..from an infected messy dl archived on a site, to an intentional infection of a program, to programmers who add backdoors ……
* same can be said @ ANY plug ins and add ons – aim, msn, icq, etc……. *
trojan and av program only work if they have the dat file…. i have seen files scan clean for months, then a new dat update finds keyloggers or trojans…..
it is one reason i have VERY few downloads on site….. if you can manually do it…. its probably best to do so….. not only do you have a chance to learn and flex some computer skills…. you KNOW what was done…. and hopefully how to undo it……
but.. i guess. since folks will dl…..
free antivirus download http://www.grisoft.com for avg….
free online scans try http://housecall.antivirus.com/ or http://www.bitdefender.com/scan/licence.php or http://www.commandondemand.com http://www.ravantivirus.com disable whatever antivirus you have on comp first so it doesnt slow it down or give false readings…..June 17, 2003 at 11:24 am #61316freddy
MemberOnly use respected sites (like mine lol). If you download from a site that has only just popped up, and there are no pages to explain even the use and requirements of the program, you should start to be suspicious of it.
I provide the manual instructions, and then I provide the program. This way people know what’s going on, and if they can’t get to grips with it, or they would prefer a quick and easy solution, they can go ahead and download the program.
I wrote emotion creator becuase people didnt like starting at a text file, to them it looks ugly and hard, where a GUI with simple buttons and text boxes made the whole process seem real easy.
YahRooLS started when people was missing rooms, this was when the roomlists got big, yahoo! sent them in two HTTP packets, their own client messenger could not handle two packets. Now it serves mainly for those multi lingual people who mostly chat say in USA rooms, and now and then want to go to ther german rooms, without downloading german messenger (like myself).
NoAds was written due to fact people hated editing the registry. Source code available here http://www.freddys-utilities.co.uk/noads.html
All my programs have had many downloads, 6000 from cnet referals alone. I wouldn’t waste hours of my time writing programs if I felt there was a more appropriate way.

MemberI’m not saying your site, or any other site isn’t safe, i personally have d/l from your site, i have never used viruses or trojans myself, but i have a LOT of friends who have used them, and any 12 year kid can figure out how to trojan someone, new programs are released every day, and even on these good sites, i have seen people who are computer savy, miss scripts/trojans that was in a program. My point is, if you want to be able to sleep at night without worrying about your computer being infected with anything, then don’t d/l any programs whatsoever. That is just my point of view, i have been a target of a lot of these wannabee hackers using trojans, and i have avoided them for over a year now.
I have noticed a lot of people on here, suggesting people go d/l this program, an go d/l that program, and it’s just not worth the risk, theres not a single program out there you NEED or have to have. This is everyones personal choice, i’m not knocking any of the sites linked to this one, im saying out of all the websites out there, im saying as a whole, not worth it. -
