MemberHi!
I was wondering if there is any solution to having ignored chatters still being heard on the mic. They appear in the ignored list. They are no longer appearing in the room, but, they are all still able to use the mic.
I completely reformatted my system yesterday, so it’s a fresh slate. Still having the same situation. Is there any remedy to this, aside from *mute?
Using the latest version of YMessenger 6.0 as of yesterday. Applied the latest patch for restoration of the menu items. Otherwise, no modifications to Messenger.
Thanks in advance.

MemberHi Mariyah!
I am not sure if I understand your question, but it sounds to me as if when you put someone on ignore, they still come through on voice. I have never experienced this problem, however you may want to try unignoring/reignoring them, sometimes I have to do that to get them off the mic. Also, refresh voice by clicking the voice button to turn it off and turn it back on. Hope this helps

MemberNick,
Thanks for the input. I have tried to refresh voice, and ignore/unignore to no avail.
Must be a feature. 🙂

MemberCertain Third Party Applications, that support Yahoo! Audio, have a higher level than the regular client.
IE when you ignore them, they dont go away.
They can step on the mic, etc. etc.
I think this is just an inherant bug w/ yahoo’s yascom library.
Are you certain, this person isnt just using a lot of bots to take over the mic?
Are the screennames exactly the same?

MemberThat’s what I was thinking. They are probably loading bots (names used specifically for 3rd party programs) and getting back on the mic. If that’s not the case, then yeah UnSaKreD, someone is really desperate to own the mic 🙂

MemberThere have been numerous bots in the room. However, if I ignore the bot owner and all of the bots, should I still hear him/her on the mic? I know that audio is controlled by ratio — on who the room listens to. But, it seems that if you ignore someone, they should be, well, ignored.
They are all different people who do not appear in the room in the list or in text, but, are now seen as “stepping” on the mic and talking.
Perhaps, I should ignore the whole room, and let them out one by one.

KeymasterThis is a common problem you hearing users on the mic after you have ignored them. This seems to me it is a Yahoo Server Side issue they seem to have another ” Buffer Overflow Issue ” they cant be bothered to patch! they did release a Update in 2003 for it but now it seems there is another Flaw in their Messenger Client!

Memberpackets, the problem is not a buffer overflow.
An overflow would cause your pager/java/chat2 and any other client using yascom to crash, w/ a buffer overflow error.
When Shinkaiho found that last year, it crashed everything.
This is a seperate problem, which has been around for quite some time.

Keymasterwell its happening , and ive got lists of new exploits to crash peoples YPager.exe so I think Yahoo need to patch it 😎

Membercrashing ypager is one of the most easiest things to do.
But this still doesnt solve her problem.
Mariyah try a third party client in chat, and then try ignoring the users through it, if it still happens then something is definately messed up.
If not, then you can safely assume Yahoo! Pager is to blame, as per usual

MemberEw, don’t say Pager lol. Anyway, I bet it is a new little exploit some “programmer” found. Or maybe, they are just entering the room on a prog just to connect to voice, not actually bringing the ID in. So, seems to me you were ignoring people by right clicking on the names of people who are in the chat room. If they aren’t in the room, open the main messenger window and go to login/preferences/ignore list and manually type the persons ID who is on the mic.

MemberNo, these are numerous people who have been “permanently ignored” in that section of the preferences menu, that when they are present in the room, I cannot see then typing in the room, and they do not appear on my room list, but, they can come on to the mic.
Other people can see them in the room that converse with them.
