MemberThe images on my OSI don’t load. According to the source they look for them here http://www.sexysquirrels.com:8080/image/aimonline.gif. But they don’t load, even when you try to load them seprate. I believe it is because I’m running multiple IP adresses on this server and it doesn’t know to look under http://www.sexysquirrels.com:8080/image/
http://www.thesillyones.com:8080/image/
or http://www.spicturepest.com:8080/image/
Does neone have help rather than sarcasim?December 23, 2003 at 9:34 am #52093Tony
MemberI can’t access your OSI either. Do you have a firewall that is blocking outside access to port 8080?

MemberTony and Dasilly1s,
I deleted the status.jar file off the webserver at about 2am EST last night after getting EXTREMELY frustrated with it. 😡
I’m going to give it another shot…Here is the current problem (this is on a Windows2000 Server with Java 1.4.2_03):
1. When you double-click the status.jar file it WILL NOT create the status.conf file. Irregardless of what the FAQ says, it does not create it. All that happens is that the Admin Tool opens- this is even after a complete server shutdown and restart.Even if I try the command line parameters (java -jar status.jar) it just brings up the Admin Tool. There is no status.conf or “logs” folder.
This server has three IP addresses for three different websites. (http://www.thesillyones.com , http://www.picturepest.com , and http://www.sexysquirrels.com)
Once I figure out what is causing this problem then we can address the images not displaying issue.
Got any ideas?
ThanksDecember 23, 2003 at 9:37 pm #52092Tony
MemberAre you running a web server on the same computer?
If yes, please disable it during OSI setup or create status.conf manually.
(OSI detects that something is already running on port 80 and thinks it is OSI. That’s why you get to see the Admin Tool.)

MemberThanks Tony,
That helped with the first problem. After I shut down all running IIS servers in Windows and then ran status.jar it walked me through the initial setup wizard and created the status.conf file.
It might be a good idea to add this instruction to the FAQ.Ok, now for the original problem that Dasilly1s initialy talked about. The images are not displaying.
Here is the OSI page: http://www.sexysquirrels.com:8080
It appears to be looking for images in the “image” folder. I’m assuming this folder is a virtual folder created by status.jar. I’ve tried pulling the images out of the status.jar file and copying them to the same folder that status.jar is located, but that did not help. I even tried creating the “image” folder in the same folder where status.jar is sitting- no help.
Any ideas? 😮
Thanks

MemberTony,
Ok, I do see that the notice about shutting down the webserver first is actually in the FAQ… I guess I didn’t pick up on that because it doesn’t really say what will happen if you fail to shut down the webserver before running status.jar. Either way, thanks for the help on that one!Next,
I was able to work around this problem with the images loading.
I used the “imagefolder=http://www.yourwebserver.com/imagefolder/” command in the status.conf file to point to the webserver with the images I extracted from status.jar.It would still be nice to figure out why the images won’t load the default way (from within status.jar).
Hmm, I just noticed your post about not being able to access my OSI (it’s actually the same OSI that Dasilly1s was referring to in his post here). I may have been editing the status.conf file when you tried to hit it. I do have it up and running now. Can you get to it?
Thanks 😀

MemberYes, I can access your OSI host now.
About the image loading problem. The use of imagefolder may be good in either way to improve the performance of your OSI. I know I’ve seen the image loading issue once before, but I can’t really remember where. Are you using an uncommon browser? I think I might have seen this issue with Konqueror…

MemberTony,
Thanks for the reply. I’m using IE 6.0.2.I’m satisfied with it working this way, just would be nice to know why the default settings didn’t work.
Thanks
