Has anyone used Zone Labs’ IMSecure? I’ve used their ZoneAlarm firewall, which works well. I was just wondering if anyone has used their IM security program yet.
February 15, 2004 at 4:56 am #84677CharlesMemberHaven’t tried the security program…what messengers does it work with? All or only some of them?
February 21, 2004 at 7:12 pm #84685syntaxMemberIt works with all of the major programs like AIM, MSN Messenger, and Yahoo! Messenger. But, I’m not sure if it works with the alternative ones like Trillian.
For more info:
http://www.zonelabs.com/store/content/catalog/products/sku_list_ims.jspIt comes in free and pro versions like ZoneAlarm
February 21, 2004 at 7:19 pm #84684syntaxMemberThe product information says that it is compatible with universal IM applications, like Trillian
March 9, 2004 at 1:53 am #84689ShadowcrestMemberProbably just does the same thing IMencrypt (http://www.aimencrypt.com). Why pay money when it’s free there? <<—

March 9, 2004 at 11:38 pm #84688ShadowcrestMemberZone Alarm is a more high-end package; IMSecure is a minimal feature. Why download a 20mb+ package when it’s for less then a meg at aimencrypt?
😡 Observe all sides before insulting someone.

Where was anyone insulted? The keyword was “free”.

This was not mentioned until now. One problem with that, though. IMsecure (free)is only 2.51MB, not 20MB+. Still it is a good point, if you only want to secure AIM. IMSecure covers any messenger program.
March 10, 2004 at 12:45 am #84676CharlesMemberShadowcrest…the security of AIM Encrypt has been questioned. Considering everyone using the same cert, how secure is it? Not very. You get what you pay for.
March 10, 2004 at 4:12 am #84687ShadowcrestMemberSorry Lurking, I thought you’re signature was part of you’re reply (ignorance is bliss…blabla..)
March 10, 2004 at 5:03 am #84682.ParticipantI have tried it out! To bad its JUNK! In fact after installing I could not send message out to anyone… I had to uninstall it just to get AIM to work again. Not even worth a trial!

March 23, 2004 at 9:00 pm #84691Defcom AMemberCan anyone help me with IMsecure Pro from Zone Labs? Strange things are happening. I downloaded the 15 day free trial of IMsecure Pro and installed it on a computer running Win2000. It worked fine for a short time. Then a window opend behind the IMsecure control panel window. I didn’t pay much attention to it and clicked it shut. I started using my Yahoo Messenger with IMsecure Pro and things were going good. Upon starting the computer the second time, the Imsecure Pro panel opened automatically as it should, and that same unusual window opened behind it again. Problem is, I closed it again and didn’t get a good look at the file or folder that was in it… something about Windows. Since the second time that unusual window opened, my IMsecure is disabled…. the program opens and everything looks normal but it’s not encrypting my chat messages. And I can’t seem to get that unusual window to pop up again to check it out. I get no indication that IMsecure is working in my Messenger. Does anyone know what’s going on here? Any simular problems out there?
Additionally I had IMsecure Pro (15 day trial) installed on my Laptop (Different computer from above) and it was working great. Three days after I installed IMS Pro I decided to format my laptop hard drive and reinstalled Win XP Pro from scratch. Downloaded a fresh copy of Yahoo Messenger from the web, and re-installed IMsecure Pro. Now it doesn’t work on my laptop. Are there some settings in Windows XP that I need to change? I was going to buy the registered version after the 15 day free trial, but not until it works! Can anyone help me here? Is some outside source blocking IMsecure?
