MemberI have a problem with Yahoo Messenger regarding the Invisibility option. I ran a search on Google, and it brought me here, and even though there have been some similar topics posted (I’ve searched, believe me!), nothing answers my specific problem. That being:
Even though I am always logged into Messenger as Invisible when playing something on Yahoo games (as I don’t want to be disturbed), I always appear as online on my friends’ lists. Now, I’m using a brand new computer, so only have a single ID on here, and I have the “Let my friends see when I’m playing games” option unchecked, and the “Do not allow users to see me online and contact me” checked. I know for a fact that it’s a problem with Yahoo Games as I have been online, but Invisible, for hours, and literally within seconds of going into Y! Games, I’m contacted as they think I’ve just come online, and it’s happened enough times for me to be sure.
When I’m not even logged into Messenger, and the program itself is exited, they are still able to see me as online, and if they send a message, the small, basic window (the kind that you’d receive from somebody in the same gaming room as yourself) opens up insted of the regular window.
So, does anybody have any ideas as to how I can stop them from seeing me as online? Please? I’m begging you! 😀

MemberWhat version of Yahoo are you using? Have you had this problem since you first started using Y! messenger?

MemberI’m currently using version 5, 6, 0, 1333, as it was the most recent release available when I bought the computer. Although this hasn’t always happened, what I described has been going on for several months now, even on my old computer, which I’m pretty sure had v5.5 installed.

MemberI’m in a games room now and i just checked this, if I have the “Let my friends find me” option checked from the game room options, it instantly shows on messenger that im in that room, and when i uncheck it, it shows me instantly as not in the room. Make sure you have this option checked. I notice a lot of my friends don’t want people seeing them as being in games for some reason, but if someone from your friends list is in the same room as you, your id will be highlighted at the top of their lobby. If the option i mentioned doesnt help, goto My Profiles, and set the option to hide your online status from other users, and try that. If this doesn’t work and you don’t want people knowing your online, you need to make another account and use it in games.

MemberThanks for the advice, but unfortunately, all of the options you suggested are already checked, and have been since I first installed Messenger. I guess the only way to remain hidden would be to, as you said, create a totally new account. This, of course, would mean that I lose all of my high score though. Ah well, nevermind.
Thanks for trying to help.

MemberGo to preferences on your Yahoo Messenger. Then Privacy. Make sure the option “Let My Friends See When Playing Games” is UNCHECKED. If it is checked & you are playing it will appear on their Buddy List next to your name!! Then all they have to do is Right Click on your name & it takes them directly to where you are… kinda like Joining a User in Chat. Worked for me anyway… but if they have nothing better to do they can always go from game room to game room & as Johnson mentioned if you are there your name will appear at the top of the room list in blue to make it easier for people to locate their buddies. Hope this helps!!

MemberSince you do have this unchecked… check it & then re-uncheck. I have had to do this too ever since upgrading. Since updating Yahoo, I have to reset my preferences EACH time I log on… especially the Webcam features. Sad, but true!!
