ParticipantAll P2P applications are vulnerable to the RIAA subpeona’s. Changing clients is not going to protect you. Check out this article for some legal help : How Not To Get Sued By The RIAA For File-Sharing (And Other Ideas to Avoid Being Treated Like a Criminal).

Memberso….the chances of getting a law suit are slim cuz there are millions of users…
But say you do get caught…do they warn you and then you can delete it or are you just plain old screwed???
2 more???

ParticipantThey may not be that slim, RIAA is issuing thousands upon thousands of subpeona’s. From there they will pick there targets for lawsuits. Not everyone who is subpeoned will be sued, but there is no way of knowing whether you will be made an example.
If they have already targetted you, it won’t matter whats on your computer now. Check here to see if your username or IP address is on one of the subpoenas filed with the D.C. District Court on behalf of the RIAA.
If you do become a target of a lawsuit, they can sue for up to $250,000 (I believe thats the figure). I do remember hearing talk of Jail terms being considered for some college students who were offering hundreds of illegal mp3’s.

MemberIt is said that RIAA is only targeting the people sharing loads of mp3’s. So if you only share a few songs then theres a good chance your not going to get sued.
Heres a interesting discussion about the company fighting for P2P file sharing: http://www.eff.org/share/

ParticipantIf you had bothered to actually read the page, you would already know the answer…
Quote:quote:EFF does not log user information. At EFF we respect your privacy and the last thing we’d want to do is create a treasure trove of information about you that could itself be subpoenaed by the RIAA or anyone else. IP addresses are not logged anywhere on the EFF website. In addition, we are not logging any searches to this database. We think that free speech requires privacy and anonymity — whether you’re researching a medical problem or trying to find out if you’re about to be sued. So rest easy about searching here — if the RIAA comes knocking on our door, we will have no identifying information to give them about you or anyone else. We recommend similar privacy-protective policies to ISPs. -
