Participantif I get a .ISO file what do I do with it? I heard you must burn it to a disk to use it? If so then is there a way I can use it without burning?

MemberAn .ISO file is basically a disk image. You can use the program below to extract .ISO’s, and I think if you extracted them to a folder on your desktop, then you could run it from there. However, I think it is much easier to burn to a disk, NERO can do that for you.

ParticipantSo I can just use the Nere burn image to disc option and the disc would be a like a normal CD-ROM?

MemberOR… you could use a free program called “Dvd Shrink” which is freeware to shrink and extract it to a folder or a dvd-r. Its available here:

MemberDamn…didn’t look properly. WIN ISO isn’t free.
I have a free version though, I can use any file size and it won’t restrict me. Sorry about that.

MemberI would suggest MagicISO: http://www.magiciso.com for extracting the contents from ISO’s into a folder. It is free and the only limitation is that if you want to CREATE an ISO larger than 300MB you need to buy a full version.
And yes, when burning with nero, it extracts the contents of the ISO and burns it onto a CD (so on the CD you will have what was in the ISO, not the ISO itself).

MemberDVD Shrink has nothing to do with what we are trying to do with ISO’s. It is for ripping DVD’s from CD’s. He wants to know how to make extract ISO’s and (or) burn them. If you want to extract ISO’s using DVD Shrink you first have to create a virtual DVD drive.
