June 26, 2002
DENVER, CO – June 26, 2002 -Building on its successful European conference just completed, Jabber, Inc., a subsidiary of Webb Interactive Services Inc. (OTC symbol: WEBB), today announced JabberConf Americas 2002, the worlds largest conference dedicated to accelerating development of the Jabber technology, marketplace, and standards. JabberConf Americas 2002 will take place August 20-22 in Keystone, Colorado.
Developers from Jabber, Inc., leaders from the Jabber Open Source project, and Jabber software partners and customers will come together to discuss the future of Jabber technology and efforts to accelerate Jabber as a worldwide standard for XML-based instant messaging and presence. The conference will showcase new products and services being deployed on the Jabber platform, many of which extend Jabbers reach into new application categories, including collaborative, peer-to-peer, and web services applications.
JabberConf Americas follows on the heels of the just completed JabberConf Europe in Munich, Germany. The European conference attracted such attendees as AT&T, BellSouth, France Telecom, British Telecom and Wireless Village. As the first European event devoted to the Jabber community, it reflects the rapidly growing use of the protocol worldwide.
Among those addressing the conference is Marshall Rose, principal of Dover Beach Consulting, who will discuss the momentum around the Jabber standardization effort at the IETF. Mr. Rose formerly held the position of the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) Area Director for Network Management, one of a dozen individuals who oversaw the Internets standardization process. Marshall has been responsible for the design, specification, and implementation of several Internet-standard technologies and is the author of over 60 of the Internets requests for comment (RFCs).
The conference will hold two tracks – business and technical – and will provide both high-level business discussions and highly technical details focusing on future architectures, SOAP on Jabber, next generation wireless applications, and web services. JabberConf Americas provides a unique opportunity for executives, developers, product managers and business development professionals to discuss the current and future applications of the Jabber platform and steer the future direction of the Jabber protocol.
“JabberConf Americas will provide a central gathering place for the Jabber community to exchange ideas, share techniques, and push the technical boundaries of the Jabber protocol,” said Tony Bamonti, Vice President of Open Alliances, at Jabber, Inc. “At our European conference and at our Americas conference last year, companies garnered real competitive advantage by getting a first-hand look at the standards, applications, and interfaces being developed. Participation in the conference ensures a place for each participant as an active part of the worldwide Jabber movement.”
Information regarding registration, early registration discounts, location, speaking opportunities, sponsorship and exhibitor opportunities are available at http://www.JabberConf.com. The conference will be held at the Keystone Resort and Conference Center in the mountains west of Denver, Colorado.
