ParticipantI have a rather large file (500+mbs) and was wandering how I can transfer this to my friend over the internet. I tried yousendit.com but I let it go and 2 hours later it was still going, and we both have cable internet connections. BTW I am looking for a fast way too.

MemberYou could email it to him if you can find a email provider that allows that big of an attachment

MemberTry using DC++, then chose a hub, where you and your friend can enter at the same time. Then share the file which you want to transfer to your friend and he can download it from your computer. DC++ helps if you are a college student and connecting from oncampus. If you ARE a college student or if you and your friend can go to some college for faster internet connection, then try installing i2hub from i2hub.com
By using i2hub i have downloaded files of size 700 mb in just 1 minute from my friends who are in the campus.March 9, 2005 at 3:52 am #116502lazyturbo
MemberIt’ll usually take more than 2 hours for 500megs. Just use an instant messaging program to do it.

Does any Instant Messaging program supports you sending large files as this? What are the limit for Yahoo Messenger, AIM and MSN? Any one?

MemberAIM has no limit and lets you direct connect, I reccommend using it to transfer the file.

ParticipantI just tried AIM last night, but it said not enough memory, so I guess it puts the file into the RAM to transfer? I have 512 RAM but its impossible to have all that free. I just ended up burning it to a CD thanks for the help anyway, neo if I ever have to transfer alot again, I’ll try your method.

MemberIf you ever need to transfer again, you might also try using an IRC client and transferring the file through that. I do it with large files all of the time.

MemberYou could just use a P2P software like limewire to transfer the files.
