MemberI’ve recently ran into a prob with one of my yahoo ID’s. My yahoo ID was working just fine until a day later when I made an attempt to get on it and get a message saying that my account was locked for security reasons. Well, after searching the internet for a reason on why it could be locked I come across the forums and take a peek at some. I see that some have had the same problem..But haven’t had a problem logging into mail and games. I can’t log into anything under my ID. Messenger gives me the security error and Mail just wont log me in either. I’ve tried logging in under chat clients and they won’t work as well. I also waited 24 hours and tried again> Still nothing..! I don’t know what Yahoo’s problem is, but it needs to be fixed. As far as strange status’s..Haven’t had any of those!:p

MemberWith an answer to your problems on yahoo it saying its locked for security … is a big problem … ( only when it says that ( lock for security…) someone has been trying your user id and pass very many times with wrong pass … but correct user … and that will lock your account out …. ) … I dont fully agree on the idea for them to lock accounts out like that …. ( it will only start fights … )
If this was helpfull to you as an answer please respond to me and let me know if that helped you or weather or not i can try to help more … thanks ..

MemberI doubt anyone is trying to steal your account, some days if you type in the wrong password just one time, it will freeze up your account, thing is if your account is frozen, theres nothing you can do about it from messenger. Yahoo has something called word verification, sometimes this may be a pain, but this has literally kept thousands and thousands of ids from being stolen, and maybe it sucks that your account gets locked every once in a while, but trust me yahoo is 100 times more secure with word verification.
You cannot even view word verification from messenger, so if you ever have any kind of problem logging in thru messenger, use http://www.my.yahoo.com to log your id in, if you are getting word verification(you have to type in your id and password, as well as the word in the box) and you try to login thru messenger it will just freeze up your account. But if you sign your id into http://www.my.yahoo.com successfully, this will get rid of the word verification, and you will be able to sign in to messenger. Another thing to keep in mind, is that if your account is locked(frozen) you can unlock it by sending yourself an email thru yahoo, the email address you provided when you signed up, it will send you a link to that email, and then u sign in with that link to unlock your account. So if you have your actual email on your account you shouldn’t have to worry about your account being frozen.
Also some days, even using the correct password, yahoo just doesn’t want to accept it, and this could also lock up your account, and give you the word verification, and make it impossible to sign in thru messenger.June 24, 2003 at 8:53 pm #60804kiwi_guitar_grl
MemberNot only am I having problems logging into messenger, but also my mail account which includes http://www.my.yahoo.com. What do you mean by “sending an email to myself” ? The alternate email account I put on my yahoo is ooskeetoo@aol.com. What do I do? Send an email to my yahoo account with my ooskeetoo account?

MemberWhen was the last time your id signed in? If it’s not signing in at all, and you didn’t change your password, and you don’t think anyone stole it, you can try to log it in on a different server:
http://login.europe.yahoo.com/config/login
http://login.korea.yahoo.com/config/login
http://login.india.yahoo.com/config/loginA while back some ids wouldn’t login at all, unless you switched servers, an it would fix the account to work on the default server. You could also try a secure login:
https://edit.europe.yahoo.com/config/login?
If none of these work then I would guess that your password is changed, you need to reset your password, you can do that by going here: http://edit.yahoo.com/config/eval_forgot_pw an put in all of your info, to answer your secret question. Birthdays in the usa are in a different order then what australia uses, not sure about new zealand, ours go month/date/year yours are prolly day/month/year and we don’t use zero’s for 01-09 on the days.
If your account is locked, yahoo will ask if you want to unlock it, and if u do, it will send a link to your email and you goto the link to unlock your id. If your account is locked this is what it will say
“(your id here)’s account locked
You have exceeded the maximum number of login tries for the Yahoo ID purple_bound. The account has been temporarily locked for your security.
You can wait 12 hours before trying to login again, or recover your ID and/or password by confirming your private information “
Click on ” recover your ID and/or password” and it will send you an email that will unlock your id. To lock up an id i made like 30 attempts at the password b4 it locked it. Sometimes though it only takes one attempt, it isn’t all that consistent, but you usually get 5 tries b4 it has word verification, and around 20 or 25 b4 it locks up the account
