MemberI was logged in and decided to start deleting old contacts. I don’t know if I hit some funky keystroke or what, but now I can’t log back into Yahoo IM. I’m able to get into my mail and all that other stuff, but not Yahoo IM. I keep getting the “invalid login” window. I’m positive that I am supplying the correct log in info (I have it set to auto login). This ever happen to anyone else?
After a couple tries, I got this:
System: Your account has been locked for security reasons.
Please click on the link below for help:
http://login.yahoo.com/config/login(I assume this warning is just because I have tried getting in so many times.)
If no one here can help, can someone supply the email of who I should talk to at yahoo?

MemberPlease tell me I understood incorrectly… why in the HE(DOUBLE HOCKEY STICKS) would YOU try to break into someone else’s mail account??? That is a MASSIVE invasion of privacy! And if the mail account was the one in question Yahoo! would lock the MAIL account… not messenger.

MemberWell, don’t ask me why this happens, but I figured out the reason I was locked out.
I tried logging on today and got back on. After answering a few offline messages I began deleting people from my contact list (selecting the name, hitting the delete key) for a little Spring cleaning. Same thing as last night before I was locked out.
After deleting ten or so contacts I was locked out again. So, I guess we’re not supposed to delete our contacts now? Wish I had known.
I have no idea why Yahoo! is retarded this way. I guess it’s probably a security issue or something that is supposed to help you if your account is hacked and the hacker decides to empty your contact list for some reason. Either way, it’s retarded.

it happening all over…. you and others are triggering some of the filters/ heuristics in place to stop the p0rn/sp4m b0ts…..
* this is DIRECTLY quoted from the mouth of a yahoo admin *
ya need to edit contact/buddy list here >>
http://edit.yahoo.com/config/set_buddylist
and it SHOULD avoid the issue. Should being operative word.
and may I offer a suggestion?
include every single detail you can when you report a bug to yahoo……
MESSENGER version and module number, your OS, and EVERY detail you can think of, including other messengers open, what so called boot protection you have loaded etc. if the engineers can not duplicate the error – they cant fix…
yahoo isnt hiding…. they are not able to do anything until they get a few more details other than “yahoo sucks – my messenger locked me out”…..k?May 16, 2003 at 8:56 pm #62869IndyTone
MemberThank you. Now I don’t feel like I’m insane or something.

MemberWell, looks like after deleting contacts in the manner in which I was deleting, you get put into “yahoo prison” for a bit.
After a day or so I was able to log back into my account. Oh well, what will they think of next?
