89$?!?!?!?!? I just fried a 512 MB of ram chip and need a cheap one. Can you give me the brand name and model # jeff? I live by frys.

i got some ram not too long ago. I think it was 100and-something mb. I know it wasnt even close to the cost of what jeff paid though. even though it was really cheap. I would check the sunday bestbuy ad if you have it or http://www.bestbuy.com and check. (or whatever computer electronics store you use)

512-128=384, so can I just buy 384 and add it on or do I have to buy 512?

You have to check the amount of DIMMS you have open on your motherboard. And I haven’t seen anyone selling 384MB RAM modules, ever. Just buy 512MB, or 2 256MBs and dump the 128MB stick.

oh alright then, and is the installation easy for someone who has never done it before or do I have to take it to a shop?

It’s fairly easy, but in your case I would let someone who knew what they were doing install it. One spark of static and you could fry the memory stick or worse.

ive already messed up my comp enough, 12 hard drive cleaning trojans, one trojan was so bad I bought a new hd, system restored like 5 times, and yea some stuff I cant remembr but as long as I unplug ill be fine I guess…..
