MemberHKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareAmerica OnlineAOL Instant Messenger (TM)CurrentVersionBuddy. Modify ‘Max Buddies’, change ‘Base’ to ‘Decimal’, change ‘Value’ to whatever you please. Ok that is what I thought I could do to change amount of buddies allowed, but it changes automatically back to ‘350’ anybody figured out why?

Participantit doesnt stay at whatever you please, because everytime you connect to the AIM servers, it resets to the maximum allowed limit of… 200? I think the limit is now 200, but don’t quote me on that. this has actually been discussed a few times before, so if you’re curious what the limit currently is, do a search.

Keymasterthis happens because AIM only allows 350 as their max buddies. it used to be that buddies the max was 200, but since Triton beta came out AIM/AOL has been slowly upgrading it’s space/services. when they finish everyone is supposedly supposed to have 400 max buddies (which is far more than anyone with a sane mind can talk to).
Jon8RFC has written what AIM/AOL has added since the first Triton beta: https://bigblueball.com/forums/t31203-aim-expanded-profile.html#post173541. this information may be out of date so you may want to also check out greg’s (an AOL employee) aimInfo blog

Thanks for the gregsblog plug, while I am away on vacation this week, things go on at AOL w/o me :(, I will post when I can. As mentioned above more “limits” are being removed and/or expanded to accomodate users. Things like profiles, buddy lists, etc will continue to get bigger and better. Triton is helping us get to where we want to be, and will also get better as the summer goes along.
