MemberDear AIM users,
Because of our overloading of our servers, we are being forced to extract our non-active AIM users. Because this is a free service, AOL has exceeded the budget for the AIM service. We are asking that you send this exact message to 20 other AIM users to ensure us that you’re an active AIM user. Our system tracking devise will pick up this message to keep you on our active list. You have 72 hours to complete this task or your service will be cancelled immediately. Starting September 10, 2003, we will be charging a small fee for registering of a screen name for AIM. Thank you for your time and for using AOL or AIM.what does that mean.they are gonna start charging.no offense to AIM but i am mad if thats what is happening!
i may have to change to yahoo or sumthin!

KeymasterThis is a HOAX! Do NOT send this to “20 other AIM users!”
These kind of hoaxes pop-up every few months, and I’ve seen them on all IM networks (AIM, ICQ, MSN and Yahoo). It’s simply not true.
For the truth in the latest instant messaging news, just visit our home page. We’ll keep you up to date

MemberAnd there is no way aim would try to get the word around by IM. They would post it on their site for when people came to register screen names. And i highly doubt AoHell went over its budget.

Memberthey definately wouldnt do it by AIM and I dont know if there really was a person going around iming every1 and telling them about it but i got the message from a couple of friends so if AOL would do it, they would actually have one of their representatives do it. and they should get rid of dead sns but they should email the person and if the person dont reply about a certain account within a week, then delete that account.
