Anyone get Messenger 5.0 to work with video?
I have tried using Webcam for MSN messenger by Logitech and Netmeeting. I can not get video confrencing to work. All other features do work. Anyone have any solutions? I don’t understand why everything works except the video.
I have the same problem when turning on video connection for two MSN sessions located in different LANs connected to Internet through Internet connection sharing devices.
A typical connection is: MSN Messager session A LAN A Internet Connection Sharing Device A Internet Internet Connection Sharing Device B LAN B MSN Messanger session B.
The problem occurs even if one side is a dial-up connection and I have no problem turning video for two clients that are located within the same LAN segment.
Further observation found that the local IP address (e.g. 192.168….) of the MSN Messanger clients were exchanged as they were. That causes the peer MSN Messanger clients trying to establish a connection to the exchanged local addrerss over an Internet connection.
I have yet find a solution for this but I believe this could be a bug since the peer clients were able to chat normally……
I would like to learn from anyone who had overcome the same problem.
Regards,
😮
I agree that it is a bug.
We also get error messages when we try to connect. I’m running ME and my friend is using XP, when I try to invite them to a webcam session I get a message that says “person you are trying to connect with is not running WEbcam fo MSN Messenger”.
If they try to invite me, I get the message, “you must be running XP to accept viodeo from this person”
