crotch
MemberPeople are such assholes.
Ok, so I’m on Yahoo! Messenger, in a chat room, and I get hundreds of IM’s all at once. I fight off all the weird-o’s and block them, so they do not continue to message me. Some of them for some reason do not “stay ignored”. I continue to do it. They continue to message me. Is there some sort of hack to make your self unignorable? Is there a way to prevent it?
I know there is no way to prevent idiots who have multiple ID’s, so if they are ignored, they just run their second ID and message me.To show how far the little pukes will go I will include a conversation that I had to go through:
Them: hey
Them: whats up
Jess: Who’s this?
Them: who do you think, the one you’ve been ignorin
Them: why you ignorin me anyways?
Jess: If you do not stop I will report you to Yahoo. This is Jess’s mother.
Them: I don’t care
Them: report me
Them: lol that **** doesn’t work
Jess: Trust me kid. My niece works for Yahoo Inc.
Them: right
Them: try meNothing works anymore. I used to threaten’ them, by telling them I would send them a virus (or something of the sort) if they would not stop.. and it DID work, but now the kids these days just seem gutless. I will admit, I am Yahoo illiterate, but is there another way to deal with these idiots?
I guess while I’m asking – in the new BETA, or even possibly in all versions, is it possible to stop the IM’s from being on top of windows?
I do not have “Keep Yahoo! Messenger (BETA) on top of other applications” so why does it continue to do it? Is it a possible bug?May 16, 2004 at 12:50 am #45102mdande
MemberIf you are getting messanges from people not on your list the easyest way to stop it would be…
1) got to perferences under messenger on your friends list
2) ignore list
3) ingnore anyone not on my friends list
4) apply then I beleave you need to log out and back in for it to start workingthis will make it so you only recive messages from the people that you have on your friends list and will block everyone eles who trys to message you unless you message them 1st..you also can add them to the ignore list from the ignore list..if thay are on your frinds list and doing that to you the only way you can really ignore them is to delete them from your friends list and place them in the ignore list..if you just put them on ignore in the chat room the next time you go to the chat room thay are not on ingore anymore

MemberCrotch, you can do another thing…
Goto
1. Messenger Preferences.
2. Messages.
In the third column you will see, “When I receive messages from people not on my messenger list,…”
click, “Show the messages in a single window”.
U can do another thing if you like…Right there in the first column, “When I receive a new message”
you can either select “Minimize the message window to the taskbar” or “Show messages to the bottom right of the screen”.
Hope that helps.May 21, 2004 at 10:53 pm #45100crotch
MemberFor the ones who can beat being ignored from the button in an IM, I can over come this, and have them perma-ignore if I manually add them to the list?
And turning off IM’s isn’t a fix, it’s just a work around. I use IM’s for a source of privicy from others in the chat. It sorta defeats the purpose.

MemberIf you want to get these punks out of your hair, get a chat client. It’s as simple as that. They are easy to set up, provide a lot of protection from booters, and even come with a permanent ignore bin.:D Some chat clients you might want to try, are YmLite (my favorite), Yahelite, MyChat, Yazak, Ychat, Jam, and Quickchat. In my oppinion, YmLite is the best, but that’s just my oppinion. I suggest you try at least a few of them to find which ones you like best. Also keep in mind, that most have at least one other chat client that is just like it with a few differences. Such as Mychat, Ychat, and cheetah chat. They are all copies of each other with different features. As are YmLite, Yahelite, and Yazak. So if you like one of those, try the others that resemble it, and you might just find the perfect one for you.:)

MemberActually det, yes they do. Yahelite does at all times, but YmLite doesn’t when you log into the DHTML and YCHT, only in YMSG server mode. I’m not too sure about MyChat and Ychat, or Yazak, I’ve never tried it with them, but Yahelite does, and IF configured right, it can be pretty much boot proof. However, I choose to use YmLite for chat, and another s/n on my Yahoo! messenger to use webcam and chat with buddies. You can also use the other account in the room for the webcam, just keep him silent if you don’t want it booted and do all the talking with the account on your chat client. Hope this info helps. 🙂
