KeymasterWow, that is weird. But thanks for updating us on it, Ladybug24. It’s alway’s appreciated when we hear back from folks one way or the other.
Hey Mariette, if you get a chance, see if the sounds consistently work when you have an IMvironment loaded.

MemberOK well what I thought worked, didn’t. At least the buzz option works, but the login sound doesnt. Worked once & then went kaput. It does help if you have an IM for a background though. BTW, I am now on 5.6. DL’ed it & now have the new common problem of the offlines erasing themselves. Nice touch!!! lol
Also, TY for everyone who has tried to help. It’s comforting to know that I am not alone!!! Oh, and Yahoo’s tech support will NOT answer my questions. I get an auto reply & that’s it. NICE!!!

MemberAuto replies are normal for Yahoo!. Human replies are unseen. Even replies that take weeks are standard replies.
I have 5.6 and the sounds work, but I only used it for a few minutes, probable wont use it again. Offlines is not a problem, its a new feature, once you close the box, they get deleted, obviously Yahoo! took what their users want, and included the reverse!
Look at it like this: If the first of 10 offline messages is a bootcode, that offline box will close, and all 10 messages will be deleted. So the booters just got more power!
Congratulations Yahoo!

MemberWhat am I missing here! In order to have an IMV running you have to have a message box open, don’t you? Or maybe I’m having a blonde day! I need my knocker to work notifying me when people come online. The IMV is not an option for the main box is it?

MemberIMVironments are in IMs. But ladybug said that it doesn’t work how they thought anyway, the logon sound still fails.

This isn’t a social club, we are serious users of Yahoo! messenger and use this forum to solve problems and have questions answered. I suggest you look in a chat room if you are looking for a friend. Good luck;)!

MemberOn the subject of messenger sound prompts — My messenger sounds all work for a short period of time … then “magically” they all quit … I have no idea why this happens … I can play music all day long, but messenger sounds crap out on me … when I reboot the whole computer, the messenger sounds work again … anyone have a clue on that one?

MemberThis is LB24 again & yes the problem is still going on. I get absolutely NO sound when someone logs onto Yahoo but all the other sound I have set work perfectly. This is not just 5.6… it started with 5.5 & even when I went back to 5.4 it was not corrected. One thing I have noticed… if you have a message box up for a buddy when they are invisible & they become Avaliable you get a green message stating as much. Red when they log off. Ever since this sound problem started, I don’t get the green message… it still appears but it is “ghosted”. The red message on exit still works fine but then again so does the corresponding sound. Just wanted to add that tidbit!!

MemberSomehow, mysteriously since my first post, this has seemed to clear up and I am getting my knocks again. It may have happened during the last patch when all the mysterious status messages were appearing. I have yahoo. 5.5 1244 and I have not downloaded their latest “fix.” I really think its a Yahoo problem (so what else is new)
