ParticipantYou followed the troubleshooting steps located here? http://help.yahoo.com/help/us/mesg/voice/tvoice/tvoice-02.html
You may not need the CD to re-install the codec if it can find the proper files on your system.
I am looking to see if the codec is available to download from anywhere else online, but its not looking good so far.

ParticipantTry downloading and unzipping this file – http://www.shiftmedia.ca/tssoft32.zip – into your C:Windowssystem32 Folder, then restarting.
I don’t guarantee it to work, but its worth a try.July 28, 2003 at 11:46 pm #92649David

I don’t guarantee it to work, but its worth a try.BTW — Unzip with WinZip, and in Windows 2000, it’s C:WinNT not C:Windows.
Put the filers in your C:WinNTSystem32 Folder.

Memberhow can i put it in “C:WinNTSystem32 Folder.”?
July 28, 2003 at 11:57 pm #92652shifter
ParticipantUnzip the file – navigate to your “C:WinNTSystem32” Folder and move the file named “tssoft.acm” to it.
If thats too much to ask try downloading this directly to the “C:WinNTSystem32” Folder.
EDIT – You will likely need to be logged in as an administrator account to access the C:WinNTSystem32 Folder

ParticipantTry this:
1. Press the Start button in the lower left corner of the screen.
2. Select Settings, then Control Panel, then Multimedia. The Multimedia Properties window should be displayed.
4. Click on the Devices tab.
5. Click on the plus-symbol (+) next to Audio Compression Codecs to expand the list of installed codecs.
6. Press the Add button. The Add window should be displayed.
7. Select DSP Group TrueSpeechTM Audio CODEC (the tssoft.acm file you saved), then press the OK button.
8. If the Driver Exists warning is displayed, press the Current button.
9. You will be prompted to restart Windows. You may restart now or later, but the codec will not be available until you restart your computer.
10. If, after restarting your computer and attempting to start a voice chat, you are still receiving the same error message, continue to the next step.
11. Open the Multimedia Devices window as directed in steps 1-4.
12. Select DSP Group TrueSpeechTM Audio CODEC from the list of Multimedia Devices, and press the Properties button. The Properties window is displayed.
13. Verify that Use this audio codec is selected, and press the OK button.
14. Press the OK button in the Multimedia Properties window, and try to start a voice chat.July 29, 2003 at 12:32 am #92658don kill me or ill cry

MemberThis just goes to show why you do not want to delete anything off of your system, unless you are absolutely sure you know what you are doing. This is what I tell people who know nothing or very little, when they ask about a system file or setting. “If you don’t know what it is, don’t mess with it.” Now if they want to learn about the system or setting, that is another story, but just don’t delete something because you just might end up with the problem above.
