I was at google’s “More” page (the more>> thing you hit at the mainpage, http://www.google.com/options/index.html) and I noticed google added even more stuff, like more search features, the new Google Hello program (http://www.hello.com) and the google “code” (code.google.com), google is just going all out!
I was aware of Hello but not of the code thing. I hope Google doesn’t turn into Microsoft though. Either way cool stuff and the Hello chatting feature looks nice. If only they would incorporate that into a real instant messaging program and it would rock. Of course Google would have to convince all msn,yahoo,aim users to change.
I would love one too but it would have to work with like AIM, Yahoo, MSN,and ICQ to ever become big. Kinda like a Google Trillian.
I too, think Google Instant Messenger would be awesome.
Google could do the semi-evil thing and only let Gmail users use the chat client, or let anyone with any email address register. They could also, like Eggsalad said, incorporate the big four into the messenger, but I kind of doubt they would do that. Microsoft Network and Google seem to have been rivaling each other for a while now, so if Google made a Gmessenger, they probably wouldn’t want anything to do with MSN in it.
And if the messenger didn’t have an MSN protocol, they probably wouldn’t add any other protocol (like AIM or ICQ), or else people would be saying “They incorporated Yahoo!, ICQ, and AIM, but no MSN?”.
Gmail has added more once again and no it’s not an April Fool’s Joke since I verified by going into my email. I’m not to sure on how to check if my inbox is now 2GB though. Anyway you can get more info on what’s new here:
