Does ViperBot Helps in protecting the MSN Groups Chatroom from Being Hacked By Mirc Scripts
Thank u 🙂January 13, 2004 at 7:54 pm #56224shifter
ParticipantWell, lustdevil, that depends on what they are doing. Viperbot has basic protections, such as gatekeeper bans and such. BUT if you have given anyone else the owner key or status, you leave yourself wide open to attacks. Hosts have almost every ability that owners do, except being able to deop/kick/ban the owner or change the owners access.
The vFX Viperbot Add-on gives ViperBot extra protection capabilities (profile/no profile kick, announce knocks with reason, kick aways, random gate kick, porn bot kick, re-owner protection & owner/host key locks)
What kind of hacks are you refering to?

MemberI have been trying to find the “MSNREGCookie” using Viperbot 3.83.9 to begin my attempt at creating a bot in chat. When I click on the chat room name and go to “view source”, it states it cannot find “MSNREGCookie” or the other 2 options for the source code.
Is this just a blonde thing on my part, or is there a reason that I am not able to accomplish this task?
Please help…and oh yeah, thanks for this site, you are really very helpful!January 22, 2004 at 2:52 am #56223shifter
ParticipantWell, the reason you cannot connect is because MSN has since changed its entire chat system after that article was written. Now that MSN Chat is subscription based, there is a new method for connecting to Chat Rooms and Community Rooms. I have made a post regarding connecting to Community Rooms which will work just as well for connecting to regular chat. Only thing to note is that in order for your Bot to work, you will need to be a MSN Chat Subscriber.
Basically, if you follow the instructions listed here and just skip step 7 and 8, you should have no trouble connecting. Good luck, and feel free to post again if you have any problems.

MemberI followed the directions (skipping steps 7 and 8) and things seemed to be fine until I tried to get into my chat room. I keep getting the message “can not be authenticated by chat server”. Any suggestions?

MemberHi
Been around two years since I connected viperbot or even answered questions on it lol, just came across this by chance.
Trustedsoul, first thing to check is that you have the current version, as MSN has a habbit of updating their authentication system very often which sometimes also disables viperbot, you can download the current version including all needed files from http://www.techgear007.net/downloadsmsn/pafiledb.php?action=category&id=5
If you still have trouble, you might find some pointers at http://vpc.proboards12.com
Nice tutorial btw shifter 🙂 and for anybody interested, there’s also now a connection dll for viper allowing you to connect to IRC servers other than just MSN, again you’ll find details at the viper forums linked above.
