KeymasterThanks for sharing, Heather! I’ll add a few of my favorites.
BTW, if you paste in the Twitter URL for the tweet, it’ll show up here not as a picture, but as a fully Twitter-functional tweet.

Waiting 30 minutes on MSN to file transfer a picture to your friend.
Then your dial up internet connection cuts out and it fails.

ParticipantOh gawd… the emotes and the ones with sounds!!! Scared the bejeezus out of me more than once. Just keep it simple… please!!! 🙂
Also, file transfers… song sharing, picture sharing… starting it after saying goodnight, and hoping it would be there in the morning if your connection didn’t randomly drop.
And thanks for the Twitter-info.
Let’s see if anyone else chimes in with their memories.

KeymasterSunday morning EDIT: The Twitter oEmbeds are WORKING! Yay! The problem turned out to be that Twitter changed their API — breaking this functionality for ALL WordPress sites. Bummer. The fix has been found, and will be included in WordPress 3.8.1 RSN.
Okay, so what I said about the Twitter embeds? It’s not (at the moment) working the way they are supposed to.
Those URLs above are supposed to actually show the tweet, not the URL.
WordPress will automagically take the URLs for YouTube, Flickr, Twitter and many other popular media sites and convert it to a properly embedded “thing” (video, tweet, photo, etc.). It’s working with YouTube and Flickr (I’ve checked) but for some reason it’s not for Twitter. I’ve posted a call for help on the bbPress forums and hopefully will have a fix soon.

ParticipantHeh,… as in the olden days… just when we think we’ve got it handled… there’s a bug, a blip, and a new version with promises to fix it all. The name of the communication medium may change… but there’ll always be a need for BBB to answer questions and trouble shoot in the interim.
