MemberMSN Messenger 6.1.0211 is now out to address a moderate vulnerability with older versions (versions prior to build 6.1.02011).
Again no real changes, expect changes for MSN Messenger 6.2, due 8th April 2004.
Customers should update to this Messenger client so they’re not at risk from information being disclosed with older clients as discussed in MS04-010.

Patches work based on version..well..most of them do anyway.
JnrZ has updated his loader and you can
get JnrzLoader hereThis program isn’t a patch and has to be run instead of MSN Messenger so that it can load MSN Messenger with the desired features patched in-memory. This program will not alter the MSN Messenger .exe in anyway.
It allows you to:
– Sign in on appear-offline status
– Run more than one MSN Messenger on the same computer with only one installation (aka Polygamy).Flur has just recently updated his Nega patch.
This program patches MSN Messenger permanently until you install or repair your MSN Messenger. It is not a loader and doesn’t have to be run instead of MSN Messenger.
It adds many features to MSN Messenger based on the patch you download.
If you download Nega610211.zip then it will allow you to:
– sign in on appear offline status
– Run more than one MSN Messenger on the same computer with only one installation (aka Polygamy).
– Stop your contacts from seeing when you are typingIf you download Nega610211 noAO.zip then it will allow you to:
– Run more than one MSN Messenger on the same computer with only one installation (aka Polygamy).
– Stop your contacts from seeing when you are typing* noAO means that the patch doesn’t allow you to sign in on appear offline status *
If you download Nega610211 noUT.zip then it will allow you to:
– sign in on appear offline status
– Run more than one MSN Messenger on the same computer with only one installation (aka Polygamy).* noUT means that the patch doesn’t stop your contacts from seeing when you are typing *
You may see the downloads for the different patches by clicking here
Alternatively, you may use a proxy. MSN Proxy by MisterHuge to be exact.
This program allows you to sign in as whatever status you want, based on the preferences you set. It acts as a proxy for MSN Messenger therefore making MSN Messenger connect through it. By doing so, it can control things that happen to MSN Messenger before it connects to the server.
Further note: MSN Proxy is one of the best in the sense that it doesn’t rely too heavily on the version of your MSN Messenger, however it may have a con in the sense that you have to run it as a seperate program instead of patching MSN Messenger…
Your choice, choose away!

MemberAs anyone had an Issue resizing chat windows after upgrading to this?
I can resize them vertically but not Horizontally. Version 6.0 works fine but any build of 6.1 just won’t let me do it and it’s annoying.March 23, 2004 at 1:50 am #48510laidlaw

Memberlaidlaw, try deleting your registry entry for MSN Messenger, and re-installing the whole application. It solves a lot of little problems. 🙂

ParticipantJust managed to download new version of messenger!!
Had new computer delivered, and it’s got windows XP. For some reason messenger 4.7 already installed. Got prompted to download new version (6.1)
Tried, several times, failed each time.
Had to leave online while went to work……download took ages – and I have broadband!!
So, eventually…..almost threw pc out of window – wouldn’t fit thankfully.
Then tried this:
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/messenger/download.asp
Worked this time, and can now chat to my lady.
Version still reads as 4.7. Why’s that?
A happy endingApril 17, 2004 at 3:28 pm #48518barthit
