Hello everyone,
each time i start MSN Messenger it lags for ~10 minutes (no response). After the lag i can use it normally. Anyone got any ideas?
Best Regards, Max.
Hi, and welcome to BigBlueBall.
Could you give us a bit more information about your system please, such as:
– Which version of MSN Messenger you’re running.
– Computer specifications, processor speed, RAM etc.
– Internet Connection Type
– What other programs are running at startup? It may not be a problem with MSN Messenger, it may just be that other programs are given running priority and use up a large amount of system resources.
The more information you give us, the better we can diagnose your problem and therefore give you a more likely solution. Thanks.
Ok, some more Information then :D:
I am using MSN Messenger 7.0 (problem only appears with version 6.0 or higher). I got an AMD Athlon XP 2600+ with 1024 MB Ram and I am using T-DSL 2500. The problem does not only appear at startup, it also appears if I close MSN and open it again.
I hope those information will help you to help me :p,
Max
Have you tried to unistall/reinstall?
And also maybe redownloading MSN/
It would be advisable to do an adware/spyware scan.
In case you have not done this. Try opening your MSN Messenger (without signing on) and go to -> Tools -> Options -> Connection -> Test Connection. If any problems show up click on Repair and then Finish.
You can also go to the Connection setting again then to Advanced Settings and make sure all those options are unchecked. I have DSL and my messenger would take ages to connect just because I had the TCP option checked and no other ones. Once I unchecked that it started working. Give it a shot and see if it helps.
