MemberWhat’s up everyone. Just wanted to give a link to this (if a moderator reads this and thinks it should be moved into another then you may do so). I have worked very hard on my own skin for Yahoo! Messenger 6.0, I didn’t just change the color from the original skin, this is almost 100% my work. Here it is!

Thanks to Jeff for unbanning my site 😉
If you need a better tutorial on installing the skins for the new messenger, I have written one. Access it here
Please tell me what you think and if you want anything changed!
Enjoy
[EDIT: I updated the – [] X buttons to better fit based on your comments!]

ParticipantI’m not sure I’m a huge fan of these Yahoo skins.
OK, first off, I like the main idea of color choice. I’m not a big fan of black, but your choices of shades is excellent. If you are going to replace the buttons, I’d go for changing them all.. the ones you left have a terrible cut out because of the black. I also might have gone for a light shade of black on the buddy list. The white sorta throws it off (maybe a light gray even). But other than that said, it’s pretty well done. Good stuff.

MemberThanks for the review ;). Yeah I know that white does not match at all, but apparently you can’t change that. It is to my knowledge no where in the .XML. It made me mad but yeah, if anyone knows how to change that get to me.
Also, yeah the buttons are the only thing I didn’t make myself, I got ancy and just changed Yahoos’ to grayscale and darkened them. I will probably have a 2.0 of this sometime soon.
The reason it is so dark is because I like to go for that kind of hi-techish look, but not going overboard. It matches my site as well.
Thanks again!

ParticipantNavagate to: C:Program FilesYahoo!SharedGraphics, create a new folder, extract the files from the .zip to this new folder. Open Messenger, and change the skin.

MemberHello
Can you tell us the following information:
Yahoo! Messenger version
PC Type (Windows or Mac)That would help :p
Oh and also, please note you cannot have a folder inside the folder. It has to be like C:Program FilesYahoo!SharedGraphicsEliteNick and all the images and such need to be in that folder.

MemberErased, please edit rather than re-post right below your last post. The edit button is on the same line that has the time and date at which you posted. Thanks 🙂
If it’s not too much to ask Nick, how about blurring out your Nickname on your screen shot, it is really not appropriate. I’d rather not have to get rid of the post all together. Thanks.
Edit: Thanks for changing it Nick 🙂

KeymasterHello Nick,
Nice Job! And about the buttons cleaning them up. I don’t know if this is what you are looking for but Amy has something on her site about it.
Here is the link : http://www.geocities.com/messenger_skins_6/

MemberThanks Amy & Justified. Yeah, I was on Carbonize.co.uk looking at his tutorial on skinning for Yahoo! Messenger, but then realized it wasn’t for the new version! I will check out Helpbytes page.:)

Participant*Hint for cleaning up the buttons*You can use the transparent color (ff00ff) but that doesn’t always work. Most of the time I use whatever my background color in the xml file is…
Just fill in around the buttons, anything you don’t want to show…August 6, 2004 at 5:28 am #40682EliteNick
MemberYeah, what I’ve done is just make the bgcolor on the image the same color as the main background color. I have to wait until I can get into contact with UnSaKreD before I can reupload it on his server.
