My friends webcam is on but when I try to view says their webcam is offline

I have been able to view webcams fine, now all of a sudden when I try to view a friend I know is on and has viewers it says they are not online, even if the invite me what coudl this be. I am on a mac, but have never had a problem before I even re-downloaded it….

I have had this happen in the past several times. Most of the time, the party I was camming with and I both rebooted messenger and it worked.

Once no matter what we tried it didn’t work with someone else. Until I found out that there was a conflict with us not having the same version messenger but once we fixed that, then it worked.

also with so many changes in YM the problem could be a YM issue (glitch) which is possible.

another thing you can try is, compare settings with each other and make sure your both match.

Usually this is caused by the user giving you an alias, or running the webcam on an alias id /sub profile id.

I have had this experience as well. It all started last Saturday, 6/3 for me. All of my friends say they get this message regardless of whether its on Mac or PC. My cam is on, I can see myself, but when invited to cam my friends say they get the “not available” message. I also get the same when they invite me. Its almost certainly a Yahoo issue. I have sent them an email, but expect it will be ignored and/or never responded to as there are probably THOUSANDS of emails on the same topic right now.

Usually this is either due to current yahoo glitches, or as Unsakred said, to the user broadcasting the cam on an alias ID. If they invite you as user A, but run the cam under a different alias you will get this “cam not available” message.

go to https://bigblueball.com/forums/yahoo-messenger-support/35808-help-yahoo-webcams.html for your answer. Since Yahoo changed webcam servers only Yahoo Messenger for Windows 7.0 and 7.5 versions seems to be supported for cams.
