ParticipantThis could not be more annoying, Every time we try to get some private time and she turns on her webcam she gets cam view requests. She is running a new build of ytunell and somehow they still know she is on. She has a firewall, a router, an a/v and at least one spyware checker.
Does anyone know how they are doing this and what can be done about it? Thanks for your help.March 30, 2005 at 3:52 pm #117942gossipingrae
MemberIf the two of you need some privacy, why does she turn on the webcam? There’s a simple solution in the first place. Your girlfriend can easily solve this problem by not turning the webcam on until she is ready to use it.

MemberNot turning her cam on until she is ready to use it won’t solve the problem. Kind of hard to solve the problem when there are programs used to search for peoples cams whether you are invisible or not.
I suggest creating a screenname that is used ONLY for chatting with you on cam. And not used to go into chat rooms or anywhere else for that matter. Should help with the requests.

Thanks for your help. They could simply be using the buddy spy program to see if she is using her cam or not, if they see she is using it, well they send their request. Has she tried changing her preferences to state that she doesn’t want any request?…That might help a bit.

ParticipantThank you for the replies. I neglected to mention that we no longer go to chatrooms and the webcam is only on rarely, but someone always seems to know when.
I am way behind on cyber warfare these days and I once used to know about these types of programs and always have the best booters and similar proggies, but those days are long gone. If it wasnt for her I probably would have just deleted messenger long ago.March 31, 2005 at 4:26 pm #117937Oreo
MemberYou know what I noticed when I stopped going to chatrooms? People still knew when MY cam was on too…I found a LOT of them still had my on their lists… (even though I never agreed to it and they never saw me on cam…not that images of me typing were all that exciting anyway.) you can do what I’ve suggested in past posts and something that worked like a charm; get trolling around’s “Deny-a_buddy” (I tried it about a month or so ago and it was still working…try it first and make sure it works.), then put a message like “naked in cam..take a look” If she’s on someone’s list..requests will start flying in to her. Then write down the ID’s that are trying to view her. Now, most likely these will be aliases, but it all works the same…if you remove the name from the alias list it’s removed from the main ID’s list. Then, once she’s removed all the riff-raff, go to preferences and make sure “Only people on my list may message me” is checked under privacy. Now I think it works that when these morons sign in again, she won’t be on their lists, but try to have her sign out and see if they can see her anymore.
You may also want to go to her profile page, and untick the “Show other’s I’m online” thing. That may also help. Hope this is of some use to you. 🙂I forgot also to mention to make sure she does not make herself visible when the cam starts up. I know with an earlier version of messenger starting the cam would take people out of invisible.

MemberOr, she doesn’t have to create a new account, just a new alias that she only uses with you.

MemberHere’s “Deny Bud” and I just tried it and it still works – http://elitenick.com/pafiledb/pafiledb.php?action=file&id=28
I’ve heard of the other one but have never used it.

ParticipantOne other tidbit is that the requests always come as “annonymous” I know that there are programs out there to do that and I am tempted to have her say that they can view but only if they show who they are- or is there a way to find out anyways? If someone knows that I also would like to know. Also I am dling the deny a buddy as we speak.
I want to thank everyone for the good tips by the way! -
