MemberI hate it. Close it.
It’s just an excuse for kids to have their own web pages, and as a web developer, that sickens me. Website background music died in the 90’s, as did goofy background pictures. Everytime I visit a MySpace, I shudder. And it’s already been proven that it’s a dangerous place what with all the creeps running around it, so why keep it open and keep kids vulnerable? Sure kids are stupid, but if the site closed, there wouldn’t be any more problems! Close MySpace forever!

ParticipantI’m not big into it, but I think it’s great. My buddy has his band on it and they get tons of exposure just being on there. Plus, it doesn’t have to be that ugly. I think the problem is the parents, not websites. Simple as that.

ParticipantSpike wrote:It’s just an excuse for kids to have their own web pages, and as a web developer, that sickens me.no one thinks they have a website just because they have a myspace profile. there’s a huge difference between having a real website of your own and having a profile on a social networking site. most if not all people recognize this.

If I come across another ugly, girly MySpace page that takes 10 minutes to load, all hell is going to break loose (not that I really browse MySpace).
I’ll agree that it’s the users that make MySpace looked-down upon, as there are many naive children who use the site and are easily lured to kidnappers and the like. Then again, maybe it’s partially MySpace’s fault for not taking more strict measures on making sure people are telling the truth about their age.
But aggh… ugly myspace pages.. eyesores..

MemberWell I think personally, there are so many kids on it that are just very naive to the information they are putting on their profiles. That’s what worries me more than anything else.
I get what your saying to Jeff but your children are not really kids anymore.
It’s more the age thing that worries me, I just think it should be more monitored, that’s my view and as I said at the beginning of this thread. It cannot be ignored that there are weirdo’s using it as a means of befriending children. But it does look like the message is getting out and that’s all I want, that the kids are made more netwise.

MemberI don’t really like blog sites like Myspace, Xanga, etc. I wouldn’t mind if they closed it as long as they kept it for bands and such. It boosts popularity majorly. And it’s good to sample some of their music to see if you like them.
I think it’s sad what the internet has come to these days. There’s so many online predators and petafiles. Plus scams and stealing credit card numbers and such. Some people need to get their head out of their butt and stop being so stupid when it comes to sharing personal info on the web.

MemberDo you say “Check myspace”, or “Check my Myspace”?! I will never figure this out.

Participantcolin wrote:Do you say “Check myspace”, or “Check my Myspace”?! I will never figure this out.depends what you want them to do. if you want the person to look at something on your profile, say “check my MySpace.” if you want them to find something out, like maybe look into a band or something, then “check MySpace.” if you want them to read a message you sent them, “check your MySpace.”

Memberi think it should just be closed down. i will never become a victim to the whole myspace craze. and besides, it is a ripoff of facebook. facebook was around first!
back to my point, i’m 22 and i don’t do the myspace thing because i feel it is dangerous and scary!
let the weirdos stay there. they need a place to be anyway…
oh and btw, wasn’t myspace first created for bands only? i believe it was a way for them to gain exposure, and then everyone else jumped on the bandwagon.

Participant… no. myspace was created to be what it is now… a social networking site. a place for people to stay in touch with their friends, to meet new people, and to find common interests. bands were able to use it for promoting their music, which is fantastic, but that wasn’t the original intent.
