I have had my screen name for over 2 years now and have never had any problems logging in. Now when I try to log in I get an error which says that my Screen Name and password is not valid. I double checked the spelling and case and everything looked fine, I clicked on the “Lost password” link and the password that I received in my email was the same as the one I had put in messenger.
The twist on this, however, is that I can log in no problem on AIM Express or Quick Buddy but if I try using the Windows AIM software or GAIM, it gives me that error. I tried an older screen name that I have and was able to log in fine..
Any ideas on this? Maybe a corrupt file or something? I’m assuming it’s on my side since I can log into the web based messengers. I’ve tried upgrading to the latest version with no luck, downgrading to an older version with no luck ugh. :crying:

Corrup file may be the case, but if it’s both GAIM and AIM it may be somewhat suspicious. Did this start happening after you downloaded GAIM? Any recent software upgrades?
Try re-installing AIM or GAIM though to see if that fixes it. That means completely delete everything from AIM.
I installed GAIM after I couldn’t log onto AIM, hoping that it was just AIM being funky 🙁 I haven’t changed anything or upgraded anything although i’ve tried uninstalling AIM from add/remove programs and then reinstalling first the newest version and when that didn’t work I uninstalled again and reinstalled an older version. No luck though.. Should I be removing some other files manually when I uninstall, in the registry maybe?
I tried uninstalling Gaim as well as AIM then I reinstalled AIM on it’s own. I still get the error *sigh* 😡
