MemberI’ve just managed to sign into MSN Messenger. Literally seconds after my last post. The Service Status page still isn’t working though. Anyone else been able to sign in?

MemberWell, as long as they fix it…
What scares me the most is thinking that it’s a problem with my computer
If it’s a problem with their servers it doesnt worry me that much, even though it’s still a pain in the arse 🙁March 18, 2004 at 8:51 pm #82867detn8r
ParticipantFor some reason, the status page would not load for me. I had a chat with a Microsoft representative, and they had no notice of the service maintenance undergoing. I’ve included a copy of the chat for you.

Question: Interested into why the .NET status is unavailable.
Arnold: Hello Graham, thank you for using MSN Interactive Online Support. My name is Arnold; I will be your Online Technical Support Engineer. I look forward to assisting you today.
Graham: thank you
Arnold: I understand that you are unable to access .Net passport services.
Graham: that’s correct
Graham: I’m also unable to access the .net service status page
Arnold: Let me know since when you are experiencing this issue.
Graham: Someone checked the status about an hour ago, it quoted:
Graham: Sign In
The .NET Messenger Service is temporarily experiencing difficulty. You may be unable to sign in. Please try again later.
Last Update: 18/03/2004 10:13:00 Pacific Time (GMT -8:00)
Graham: but I am unable to access: http://messenger.msn.com/Status.aspx
Arnold: Yes, Graham. You are right, our senior technicians are working on this issue and this will restored soon.
Graham: So I may be able to tell others, like earlier in the week, it affects the ones who are currently not signed in and still available for those who are.
Graham: Along with Messenger, does this include all .net services like hotmail?
Arnold: Yes, Graham. Actually, our server is down under maintenance, some users are unable to log in but some are unable to do it.
Arnold: You can access hotmail.com and other passport services except Messenger at this time.
Graham: Ok I understand. I know you are not specialized with Messenger, but you happen to know what roughly caused the matience, possibly due to the new security release? As this is the second matience the technicians had to work on since its release.
Arnold: Yes, Graham. This is the second maintenance going on.
Graham: Again, is the second “fix” related to the first one, and possibly due to the security release last week?
Arnold: We do not have any information regarding this maintenance. We have got the update that this was going on.
Graham: hmmm. I understand. Well, thank you very much for your time.
Arnold: Thank you for co-operating.
Arnold: Be assured that the service is back soon.
Arnold: Have a great day ahead!March 18, 2004 at 8:56 pm #82892Sapphire
MemberWhat!! 😮 It just signed me in!
This is so weird…March 18, 2004 at 8:59 pm #82866detn8r
ParticipantAs I quoted, some will be able to sign in, and some won’t. As the status page says as well; “You may have difficulties signing in.” This doesn’t mean you will 😉
