NetLert and Sun Microsystems
Extend Strategic Relationship with New OEM AgreementASHEVILLE, NORTH CAROLINA February 6, 2002 NetLert Communications, Inc. today announced that it has extended its strategic relationship with Sun Microsystems, Inc. through an OEM (original equipment manufacturer) agreement, offering the option of including the iPlanet¢â Portal Server: Instant Collaboration Pack v3.0 in its latest product release.
“We are proud to continue our relationship with Sun by collaborating on this exciting new product offering,” said Gary Blair, CEO of NetLert Communications Inc. “Today¡Çs announcement will increase market awareness of our technology among Call Center and corporate customers, and enables us to offer a clear migration path to the most comprehensive collaboration and instant messaging technology available today.”
NIKS is an automated enterprise communication server which collects real-time data from enterprise data sources, such as call center switches, corporate databases and web servers, and delivers it to client computers, either on demand or continually. By formatting and distributing data from a company¡¯s existing data source(s), NIKS enables companies to realize more value from the existing data infrastructure. The included extension Application Programming Interface (API) in NIKS assures that current and future data sources can be included in the data distribution system.
“We are pleased to offer our mutual customers the benefits of including instant messaging capabilities in the NIKS product,” said Wes Wasson, vice president of product marketing for iPlanet products at Sun Microsystems. “iPlanet Portal Server: Instant Collaboration Pack provides a secure, scalable, LDAP-enabled Instant messaging solution to meet the needs of today¡¯s enterprise.”
Sun has acquired the technology of NetLert 2, NetLert Communication¡Çs corporate instant messaging solution, for use in its new instant collaboration feature pack for the iPlanet Portal Server. NetLert Communications, through the OEM agreement, is offering the iPlanet Portal Server: Instant Collaboration Pack v3.0 as a value-added component of NIKS and other future products. Secure instant messaging designed for corporations is a significant component of this product, as well as offering the functionality and administrative control corporate customers are beginning to demand.
Beyond the security issues, the software offers other tools to increase employee productivity and improve timely communication within an organization. ¡°Our product fuses powerful communication features with the ease of use and functionality network administrators have come to rely on,¡± said Danny Councell, President of NetLert Communications. “Combine that with our personal and prompt technical service and you have a winning combination that delivers outstanding ROI.”
