MemberOk, I have that virus now as well as some of my friends. Can anyone tell me how I would get rid of this?
Thanks in advancedJune 18, 2004 at 5:32 am #77587Jeff Hester
KeymasterI think its scary when crap like this makes it onto your computer UN-DETECTED!!!
I remember when BUDDY LINKS was or something was being spread around (They said it wasnt a virus)
I dunno…………Its too bad all this crap has 2 exist,i dunno………..
I guess the best rule of thumb is: DONT CLICK UNKNOWN LINKS (I presume this is the ONLY way a virus like this can get on yer computer)

MemberI’m not sure if the virus is the same or not, but the message is similar except for the link is to a different site but the file name is bestfriend.scr so I think it might be the same. You can try downloading the fix from http://www.jayloden.com/BestFriends.htm and click on Removal Tool. If you prefer to make sure the virus is the same, open Task Manager and check to see if “YahooMsgr.exe” is running or “Yahoomsg.exe” is running. According to the site, the virus has changed websites twice so it wouldn’t suprise me if the virus is the same. I hope this fixes your problem and if not, you are welcome to IM me on AIM or email me and I’ll try to help you fix it.

MemberHey I got this virus as well… but the JayLoden link above isn’t working. Is there another site with the same virus removal software?
Thanks.
