KeymasterThe new Yahoo mail seems to have a bug. At the top where it has Yahoo chat, when it loads chat, it immediately signs out and says you are logged in on another computer. But this is false. I signed into a friend’s account who gave me her password and noticed it happening each time I went into the new yahoo mail and thought she signed in at the same time I was using her account every time I went into her yahoo mail from messenger, but later found out it was false since every time I opened the new mail interface page, it signed out when it loaded chat and gave the message that the person was signed into another computer. Then to test it, I changed a setting to the new mail interface in my account and chat was enabled and it did the same thing to my account and said I was signed into another computer and signed me out. So I’m sure it is a bug. What computer would the people’s accounts be signed into? Makes no sense. Every time the new mail interface loads and says “loading chat” it will sign out of messenger and say you are signed in on another computer. When I did that with the friend’s account, I then signed in with my account and it said she was online in messenger but she wasn’t. I sent a message to her and it immediately signed her account out one time. What’s up with that bug? If yahoo is somehow automatically signing people in on other computers when that bug occurs, then what computer would the people’s accounts be signing into when that error happens when chat loads from new yahoo mail and signs them out immediately? Are the accounts even really signing in on other computers (maybe yahoo server bugs with incorrect status and the buddy list then makes them appear online after the yahoo mail chat bug appears when they are not online)? It must be a false online status in messenger and false when it says you signed into another computer. If it did, then what computer did the server automatically sign your account into when the chat bug happens in new yahoo mail? How could it make you sign into another computer and then appear online in the buddy list when no one ever did use your username and password to sign in on another computer and you are not online in messenger anymore? It only happens with the new mail interface when chat loads. I don’t use chat anyways. I was testing it to see the problem and I came to the conclusion that it is an imperfection with the new mail interface. Do you all know about this problem? What do you make of it?

KeymasterI cannot replicate this behavior, and I’m pretty sure it’s not a bug (or else there would be zillions of people complaining). The new Yahoo! Mail works fine for me. I am signed into the chat as well as my mail with no error messages.
What operating system and web browser are you using? Have you tested this on another computer?

MemberI read your post a couple times and I think you are saying that when signed into Messanger , and then sign into chat thru yahoo mail , it signs you out of Messanger ? If so , its supposed to do that . You cant be signed into chat twice with the same screen name . The ” signed in ” on another computer message is a little misleading , its your own computer that you were signd into , it just says that to let you know you were signed in . Unless of course you were signed in on another computer ,then its correct .And if you werent talking about being signed into messanger ,then trying to sign in thru mail , well ,then , nevermind what I said , I dont know why in that case ! 🙂
You said ” Every time the new mail interface loads and says “loading chat” it will sign out of messenger and say you are signed in on another computer “

Keymastergeetarplyr, I think you’re right.
The same thing will happen if you try to run Yahoo! Messenger (or Yahoo Chat in Mail) in conjunction with a third-party IM like Trillian.

KeymasterYeah, I read about others having that problem when I looked in Yahoo answers. What happens is I sign into messenger, then I click the mail icon in messenger, then if I have the new Yahoo mail and not have classic choosen, it will load chat and every time after it loads, it will sign out and give that error message. I first discovered the error when I went into the account of a person I know, it signed out of messenger on her account and I noticed the pattern, then I signed into my own account immediately after it signed out of hers when I was using it and she appeared online temporarily on the buddy list, then the account went offline, but she was not online. I promise you that. I’m sure it was a false online status in the buddy list and it just had to update itself. Then I tested it on my account and when it loaded chat, it happened on my account too every time I loaded it. Then when I signed back into messenger, it immediately gave me an alert saying I was online. For example, an alert pops up saying ” **** is now online” but it did that with my name when I signed back in. But as long as I have classic view selected, I never ever get any message saying “you have been signed in on another computer or device”. So I’m 100% sure the message is false for 3 reasons: 1) The error happens every time chat has finished loading, always a pattern and never random. 2) It happened for both accounts. 3) When I have classic view selected for both accounts, the error never happened again because chat never loads with the classic view.
By the way, I have Internet explorer 7 and Windows XP Professional and Yahoo Messenger 8.1.

ParticipantI believe this happens when you use the new yahoo mail
Switch back to classic and you should be ok
I believe the new mail uses web 2.0 same as the web messenger and has it built in
and thats why it’s disconnecting you
it’s connecting to YMSG servers 🙂

KeymasterI switched back to classic a while back and the problems stopped, but I wonder what will happen if we are someday forced to use new Yahoo mail.

KeymasterGary, with the new interface, you’re not required to sign-in to chat. It’s optional.

MemberYea, I know what you guys are talking about. This has happened to me several times, but I find if you open Yahoo! Mail after being signed into Messenger, it doesn’t do this.

Even though I set it to not sign in, I think it does anyways though. It will always try to load and you have to be quick and cancel it. I guess people just shouldn’t be signed into Yahoo Messenger at the same time. But as long as I have classic, I don’t have to worry.
