Not connecting to Alert Sever…

Im running AIM 5.5.3595 and im useing AIMutation…i dont really know what being connected to the alert server does..unless it means that i dont get an alert when my buddies sign on…i have dial up and im curious as to how to fix this problem.

I don’t want to leave you hanging without any replies to your question, but I’m not familiar with the alert server, but I’ll see if I can figure something out. Maybe someone else can chime in with something informative.

i just keep getting a pop up error message that says “cannot connect to alert’s server” it doesnt really seem like it does anything to mess up my AIM. im just mainly curious as to what it is and if its something i should attempt to fix.

here is the exact pop up messege i am getting.

Sorry, you have lost or were not able to obtain a connection to the Alerts Server, and AIM was not able to reconnect after several attempts. You will not receive Mail and AOL Alerts. All other AIM services will continue to function properly.

I’m guessing that it’s purely for AIM mail. I haven’t experienced that before, so I’m not sure if it would affect buddy alerts…I’m thinking it wouldn’t though.
