ParticipantSpike wrote:Uhh…Captain, I think Tigerbalde’s got our blogring under control, at least last I saw he did. Thanks for trying to help, though, but I’m gonna stick with Tigerblade’s code.I emailed both Rusty and Shifter about their sites, which aren’t functional anymore… maybe they just changed sites and never updated the blogring, who knows. i’ve deactivated both of the sites temporarily, i’m waiting for them to let me know what’s going on with those. the Captain also let me know about the blogroll code he did, which is fine by me if anyone wants to use it… as long as there is some reference to the ring on the page, it’s all fine. i’d prefer some variation of the remote, but if you want to add the blogroll list to that, i’m fine with it.
as for Crazy Penguin’s site, i noticed he doesnt have a remote. i’ll have to email him about it.
Quote:Anyway, I wanted to let you all know that I’ve finally jumped into the world of blogging. My blog, Geek and a Half, is powered by WordPress 1.5.x. Tigerblade, I’ll add your Blogring code as soon as I can, but I need to familiarize myself with it first. I’ve already added most BBB members to my Blogroll, but if I forgot you, PM me a reminder.no problem. whenever you’re ready to add your site to the list, go ahead. no rush. if you dont mind, i’ll check it after i post this, and then most likely add you to my list of directly linked blogs on my site (if i think it’s worthy :-p )September 13, 2005 at 7:50 pm #117893Crazy Penguin
MemberYeah i’ve not updated my list of BBB blogs for a while… sorry about that…
I’ll get it done.

MemberSorry, Spike, I wasn’t trying to undermine the blogring. Its just that it seemed to me that most members of the ring were linking to all the other members directly anyway, so why not have a blogroll. You don’t have to use it if you don’t want to. It’s just a tool, and I’m not trying to force it on anyone.

It’s just a tool, and I’m not trying to force it on anyone.i link directly to a few of the sites i read fairly often. not that i read them every day, or every other day, but if i decide to read some blogs, those are generally where i start. the reason i link them with their ringID is just so i can see the stats of how many clicks they get.September 14, 2005 at 3:42 pm #117895Spike
MemberMy blog is all set up, except for a few other things I have to add on the sidebar, and that wierd image up top…
Anyway, what I did was I made a Blogroll and linked directly, but I still have the BBBlogring code from alt-webring, too. So, my blog is up and ready to go! 🙂

Tigerblade wrote:it’s not gonna be a true blog, meaning i’m not gonna integrate it as much as some of the sites i’ve seen. its basically just gonna be a few randomly updated posts whenever i feel like adding something. i’m not gonna have an “archive”, i’m not gonna have snippets of each post with links to the full post, etc. making a full-fledged blog is just too time- and effort-consuming, and i dont really need that much extra stuff to deal with. simplicity is good.hahahaha. i ended up doing all that. every last bit of it. wow. i guess i ended up having a lot more time on my hands than i expected, and put that time towards tweaking my site.January 2, 2006 at 2:41 am #117866Tigerblade

MemberI have an off topic question regarding blogs. Is there a site with reviews or can you peeps give me some good reviews on the best blog sites to use? I have had one at http://www.blogger.com which is good, but I have a feeling I am missing out. I also have one on msn spaces as well, but for me, knowing there are other choices, I like to read up on them before settling down with one blog site. Any info would be great and thanks 🙂
PS: my blogger site right now is: sueshome.blogspot.com

ParticipantPersonally, I’d say Blogger is the best. Some others are MSN Spaces, Xanga and Yahoo! 360. I really only liked Blogger’s way of doing things. The others are just like for if you are going to throw something together. So I’d say you’re best off with Blogger. Do I use it? No, but that’s only ’cause I use the blog software my dad coded.

ParticipantPersonally…I dig diaryx *shrug* it’s highly manipulative…or…something… like that. You get my point *it’s late, dangit* and it’s just…nice, I like it. You can pw protect some entries and not others, code out layouts or use premades and essentially, I just think it’s nice.
Course I used it back in the day when I cared what my blog looked like…now I use my evil MSN spaces because…well it’s easy *laughs*

LOL, I have 3 or 4 on the go right now, I have one with blogger, yahoo 360, msn spaces, opera. That is all I can think of right now 😛
I guess I like blogger the best so far, but I haven’t tried livejournal yet or the others that were suggested, but knowing myself, I probably will :woot:April 24, 2006 at 2:47 pm #117913williamlee
