Memberif you are using Y! mess 5.6 and getting offline, consider yourself lucky!!! I have never heard from any frnd or member about getting offline messages in 5.6!!! and if you are using 5.5 and still getting the problem, uninstall mess , clean up registry entries and then again install it after a reboot….

MemberI’m one of the few that are using the 5.6 version and yes although there are some things acting up it’s not absolutely horrible to use. I tried to uninstall this, and use 5.5 again but most of my friends are already using 5.6 and the problems were still occurring. I DO receive my offline messages (and in one window)- but the delete feature comes with it. No longer can you save the offlines. I know this has been touched upon in a few other topics…. use coolguy’s advice and use 5.5 if you keep having this problem.

ParticipantI have been having these problems also, and am relieved to see that I am not the only one, because I thought maybe it’s only a problem on my end, maybe with the network here. I OK’d the prompt to upgrade a couple weeks ago, to 5.6.1339, and have had problems ever since.
The symptoms I observe is that I’ll chat with somebody for 10 minutes, exchanging messages, then there will be a 30-45 minute delay when I recieve no message, then suddenly I’ll receive 5 separate windows from my Friend, and the last message is usually like “I guess you’re busy since you’re not replying”.
This happens every day, in almost every conversation for the last 2 or 3 weeks. I wouldn’t call these “offline messages”, because I stay online, but there are these periods of silence followed by a queue of old messages. I’m not sure, but I suspect that I am not receiving all of these old messages too; that some are just lost in netspace.
I reported these symptoms to Yahoo, and they asked for my ypager.log file, which I submitted. Subsequently, I upgraded to version 1441, Windows Updated, and scanned for malicious applications with ad-aware, but the problems persist.
I wish that on the Messenger download page they would say what version it is for download, so we can check if its newer than the one we already have. The only way I know to check if there’s a newer version is to go the Feedback form, and check the drop-down list for versions, and see if there’s a higher one than I have.

ParticipantI think Yahoo just put out a new build today, 1444, but when I install from the Messenger page, it’s still just the old buggy 1441 🙁
