My son was just given a pc. It doesn’t have alot of memory on it and I want to know what older version of MSN mess. still works? Most of his friends are on MSN.
Here’s some things which may help:
Firstly, the MSN Messenger 6.2 System Requirements.
* Multimedia PC
* Pentium 233-MHz processor or better (500MHz recommended)
* Microsoft Windows 98, Windows 2000, Windows Millennium, or Windows XP operating system
* Minimum 64MB of RAM (128MB recommended)
* Up to 50MB of hard disk space needed to install — after install, up to 15MB may be needed
* 256-color VGA or higher resolution graphics card (SVGA recommended)
* Minimum 800×600 screen resolution
* Microsoft® Internet Explorer version 5.01 or later must be installed on your computer, though it does not need to be your default browser
Also, try the following link, which is a required Messenger Upgrade link. It takes you to a page whereby you can determine which version of MSN Messenger you need to run.
My son’s pc doesn’t have the right processor. He has an older one.
Hmm that’s a pretty slow processor. At that speed, not many things will run on it.
You could probably buy a faster processor which wouldn’t cost you much, just make sure the motherboard is compatible with it.
If he’s running on a 233, I doubt the mobo will support anything that will be worthy. I ran 5.0 on a 167, granted it was a bit slow, but it worked. http://oldversion.com will have it.
