MemberIs there a way to one-way IM a person? Someone did this to my friend and we both want to know how. The person could IM my friend, but she couldn’t IM the person back. And it’s not like she was blocked or anything. It just wouldn’t let her send the IM. Does anyone know how to do this?

Participantmaybe your friends rate limit was just down and they couldnt send messages..i havent heard of any programs that make it so when you IM someone they cant responde back to you.

MemberI don’t think it’s any program, and it was just as though she had gone over her limit when she really hadn’t.

MemberA lot of people come to the forums looking for something that could very well have been a glitch. Could you provide more details about what happened? Could your friend not type in the IM box? Or when they tried sending a messaging an error popped up? If so, what did the error say? Please be more specific when asking a question.

Memberi don’t really know the purpose of what you’r elooking for but i s’pose there is sorta a way…
if you open a blank IM window… then in the to: section… you put a ! infront of their sn…
that way they get your message, but u don’t get theirs if the IM back
i’m not 100% sure but i think this works
BUT there is apurose to this
when you’re directly connected with someone
an dyou’re sending them a large music or picture file, you can’t talk to them normally
bu ti fyou send them a message to their sn with a ! in front of it, you can still talk to them (although you won’t receive messages in that same window, you’ll have to select the window ur transferring the song in. you won’ tsee your message to them but u can see their reply back)
that might not be clear, but i dun really careJanuary 18, 2004 at 6:40 pm #85867t0rtle
MemberThere was no error or anything. And as I said before, it was just as though she had gone over the reate limit. She could type the message, but could not send it. No error message or anything.
I tried what you said, plastidcells, and it may be something like that. The thing is, you don’t get their IM’s back in that window, you get them back in a new one. I’m gonna experiment some more with this, and thanks for that info.

Memberit is most likely a glith in aim because it has happen to me before. i would be talking to my friends and all of a sudden i cant send any more messages. so i would just restart aim and that always seemed to fix the problem

MemberThis isn’t a glitch, because the person MADE it happen.
