is there a way you can change events so that when people, you have set up alerts for, log in….it plays the log in sound…..but when people i dont want to be alerted of, log in, it doesnt make a sound…

Sure is.
First what you want to do is turn of all sounds so nobody will make a sign-in sound. Click on the globe n’ go to Preferences… > Events > General and find a box labelled ‘Play Sounds’ n’ uncheck it. Click okay to exit the preferences. Now all your sounds are off. A disadvantage of setting up these special sounds is that you will not be able to hear the LOL, LMAO, (santa), (@), (drums), (beep) and (&) sounds in conversation. Boourns.
Then to set up specific sign-in sounds… Right-click on the contact that you want to have a log-in sound for. Go to Set Alerts…. A window will open – there you can choose for a sound to be played when they come online, come back from an idle state and/or come back from an away state. Then select the ‘Notify me by: Playing sound’ option. If you’d like the default contact log-in sound by trillian, by default starting at the trillian root folder – it would be: Trillian > skins > TP2 > plugins > Trillian-Sounds > contacts-online.wav. You can choose your own sound of course though. Check off the ‘Save this Alert’ box n’ you’re done. The contact should have a lil’ bell icon next to their name now.
