Can I use a Pentium IV processor with a BUS Speed of 512 mhz on a motherboard rated 800 mhz or do i have to get one specifically rated 512 mhz ??? Excuse me if my question sounds dumb but i’m not so saavy on these matters. Thanks in advance.
Rafael
No Intel Processor ever has a bus speed of 512mhz, the standard speeds are 533, 800 and 1066. If the socket is the same, it should work. But IIRC, chips with a FSB of 533mhz generally have a socket 370 interface, while the board (having an 800mhz speed) will have a 478. If that is the case, they are not compatible.
Thanks David my bad for the typo :p it has a FSB of 533 mhz I just mixed up things a little because as I was posting I was also comparing RAM in CompUsa’s web page.
