ParticipantI’ve read some of the other posts and nothing quite like my problem… I can sign on as invisible and everybody seems to be able to find me… I have the option to show online status on my profile turned off and let friends find me in games is off…it’s not just 1 person, there are a few that have done it…. even one time I was playing yahoo spades and I wasn’t even signed into messenger the guy showed up with a generic pm window and knew what room I was in… (he wasn’t in the room)
is there a way to find invisible people on yahoo? and is there a way to completely hide from everybody?July 7, 2004 at 12:55 am #42280Jeff Hester
KeymasterHmm I’m not sure how they are doing that but I am pretty sure that when you sign on to Y! Messenger as invisible it first shows you as online and then offline a second after that. I don’t know if this happens to anyone else but my friends say that’s how it appears when I do it and they are on the other side. Perhaps it is because I have dialup and lot of webpages loading so it has to think for a while to go on invisible. Best option you have is just putting those people on ignore and they won’t see you.

MemberFinding invisible people is actually quite easy,
also ironic. There are a few programs out that do this btw..
The program sends a malformed invite packet(old boot packet for pre 6.0)
The packet returns if the user is online or not.

Memberthere are many programs that check a users online status. the most common reason for this is for booting. the program knows they are booted when they go offline. invisible or not, they can tell if a user is actually online. then again, you can always just go down you list of offline users and click join user on every one lol. but seriously, what I would like to find is an online checker that checks more than one id at a time… maybe even my whole list. I dont like invisibility. if you have people you feel the need to hide from, then you shouldnt have them on your friends list.

MemberYou have your Yahoo! configured to let people see you when you play games. Do you save these options? Is there a chance that the people with whom you play are playing a trick by using another alias?? Or someone in the room using another alias?

Participantactually no I leave the let my friends find me option off all the time… as for someone in the room, I know the one person doesn’t play spades… and he is the one who found me when I wasn’t signed in to messenger at all… that was weird… anyway I was just wondering if there was a program to track people down like that

KeymasterAlright here is what I found out. You can be invisible or NOT even signed into yahoo messenger but because you have to sign into YAHOO games with your yahoo id it will SHOW YOU as visible no matter what. Your only choice is First when you first open yahoo messenger it gives you these choices Remember my id, Automatically sign in and Sign in as Invisible .. Once you check sign in as Invisible and you then go to Yahoo games they should not be able to see what room you are in or the fact that you are even on ..
