ParticipantHi guys, im sure u all remember the fantastic horror game Phantasmagoria. Here’s the thing. I found it after many years and made a copy of it. I installed, but when the game begins, there is a corrupted sound, which means corrupted motion in everything. it has this “broken” sound if u know what I mean, not clear. what can I do to fix the problem, I guess it has to do with older games playing in a fast pc, but what should I do?

MemberYou might try finding the EXE, then right-click > Properties > Compatability (Tab) > Run this program in compatability with Windows 98. (98 works with everything…)

ParticipantWhat OS is this game designed for?

Participantthis was made in 1994 and it was designed for DOS and windows 3.1 I think. at least that year those were the windows that existed.
i have xp and yes I think 98 would make it work, I doubt xp is appropriate for this game.October 27, 2004 at 4:26 am #35826Spike
MemberDOS? LOL! I have old DOS Games. Ahh, the good old days of DOS 6.0…Anyway…try either rebooting to the C: Prompt (Press and Hold F8 on Reboot) then playing, or run the Windows C: Prompt. (Start > Programs > Accessories > C: Prompt) (Yeah, Dave, I started copying your style, but take it as a compliment, it’s easy to understand by most!)

ParticipantHow funny, a bit off topic, but still…I played this game when it first came out, and I loved it, it freaked the crap outa me, but I forgot the name after all these years. I thought it sounded familliar so I looked it up and this is what I was looking for! I was just talking about it the other day too, how coincidental…go figure, now I can stop trying to figure out what the name of it was *giggle* Yay.

I have a style? Heh!
Check out http://www.dosbox.sourceforge.net (I think – at school now), and install DOS6 or win98 on it.
And spike, Windows XP does not run over DOS like Win9X did, the ‘boot menu’ screen (F8 before XP boot screen) will not let you inot a DOS shell (Only Safe mode, and VGA etc), and DOS in XP is not real DOS, it’s just a shell.

MemberSeems like the project hasn’t upload their own webpage. You can find the DosBox project page on SourceForge here:
