i was chattin wit a guy usin YMSG for a while …then all of a sudden tat guy told the phone number ..thru which i was connected to the net ..i’m usin a ADSL broad band connexion…is it possible ….if yes …how did he do itMost likely, he did what’s known as “social engineering.” You said you were chatting with him for a while. He likely found out some information about you (your MySpace profile, your name, your address, etc.) and was able to search around to find enough information to lookup your phone number.
It’s not especially difficult to do, but neither is it something he can “detect” merely by chatting with you.

no i didnt disclose any information ! i havn;t posted or even used that number in the net ….he also told me tat he is a pro in networkin but i was never able to find him again ! he was gone like tat… also there were no file transfers or nuthin jus IM’s tats it …aftr nearly 5 min he gave my number ! can u give me the procedure on how to do it
Did he give you your actual phone number, or the number of your internet provider?
Is it possible that this person is somebody who knows you and just pretended to be somebody else?dude i had just created the id and was in some chat room when he messaged me …he gave me my number not of the provider;s no ‘ it was my ph’ no
Well she said she connects to the internet through that phone number… Could it be possible to track it since that same number apparently is her home phone number?
It’s more likely that it was someone who actually knows your phone number than it is likely that someone had your phoneline “traced”. I’m sure there may be a way to do this if you are insanely hardcore hacker elite, but the kind of people who might possibly have this skill generally don’t advertise it to complete strangers for no reason at all. You’ve been duped by someone you know is my guess, but whether it’s possible or not, you likely not to find out how to do it here.
