Memberwhile you fix your problem why you don’t try the web yahoo messenger, you don’t have to download anything, it uses the internet. You have less features but if you are so desperate it’s an option, isn’t?

MemberAre you running a firewall at all? If so, this could be preventing you from connecting to Yahoo Messenger.
What Operating System are you running?
Also, try the following list of topics, which may or may not be of help:

MemberAs Martin said, it sounds like you have a firewall blocking it, but sounds like it isn’t because he said it connects but then disconnects. A firewall wouldn’t even allow it to connect without the owners permission. Try going to http://help.yahoo.com/help/us/messenger/win/index.html assuming you’re on Windows. Type in your question. 🙂

KeymasterI’m not an expert but I would try these three things .
First disable your firewall through msconfig, reboot and see if it allows you to connect if it does then its your firewall. If not, try going to the top of your messenger list, click on the login tab go to preferences and connections. See what it has checked as your connection if it says No proxies, click firewall with proxies. If firewall with proxies is checked then dot No proxies click apply and ok. See if it allows you to connect, if it doesn’t the final solution delete it . Delete from add removes and check your c:/program files/ yahoo / messenger or do a search for all things yahoo related delete them all .. reboot , once again search for yahoo related items after this is done and there is NONE left on your computer I would simply try re-installing it.
If none of this works, you may have to resort to just using the web messenger. ( btw, make sure your password hasn’t been changed )
