MacBoy
MemberHello All
This is my first post, so I hope you’ll be gentle with me 😀
My girlfriend is having a persistent problem with an ‘Add Friend’ request she is getting several times a day now, to the point where it has become a severe annoyance. Usual mail to abuse@ and customer services, usual reply suggesting adding to blocklist. The thing is..the requestor is already in her blocklist 😡
We don’t think it’s a person because there’s never a request message with it, but she’s getting really distraught about it now so I thought I’d see if any of you guys could shed any light on it, or perhaps share experiences? There must be some way to get rid of it. We’ve reinstalled the app (2.5.3 Mac version) and I’ve suggested she change her username, but she says (and she has a point) ‘why should I run away and back down from this’?
Can anyone help, please? TIA
Regards

MemberYou can actually turn off that feature in messenger. Then if she need to add someone to her list, she just goes back and turns it back on. It’s probably just bots, or booters sending requests to add, or could be real people who just add for the sake of adding.
If you get a third party application like ytunnel, you can set it so they can’t add you until YOU contact them first.
That’s really the only way to stop this from happening.

MemberIs she just ignoring them by selecting “ignore this user” on the add request, or is she actually going into Yahoo preferences, Ignore List, and adding them to the list manually? I’ve had this problem in chat with bots who wouldn’t stay ignored, and adding them manually made them go away. Or she can choose to ignore everyone who isn’t on her buddy list
