MemberI used to be able to directly connect with people but now when I try I get this message…
no connection was made. Make sure that your Buddy is using the latest version of AIM. Changing your settings in the Firewall preference may help. Also both you and your Buddy may need to adjust the settings of the firewall softwar.Or something like it… How do I change my firewall so I can directly connect with people?
Please help!:oLUV* PEACE

MemberWHOA!overuse of caps. Anywho, look in your prefs, there is a section for firewall.I think it could help if you put it on the second option instead of the first.let us know if that helps.

How are you connected to the internet? Directly via a modem? Or is there equipment in between like a router, a hub, a computer sharing the internet, a proxy server… (et cetera)?
You are also mentioning a firewall. What firewall software and Windows version are you running on your computer?

Too bad, we don’t. This is your final warning. Stop using caps lock excessively or face the concequences.

MemberA router is a device that allows people to network their computers. This allows you to share highspeed internet connections and allows you to transfer files from computer to computer. You can also purchase programs that will run on all your computers without needing to install them on every one. For instance, norton has a special version of its anti-virus that will protect all the computers on one network. This can save alot of time and money.

You are? Then I have some bad news for you. I am 100% sure that you are not. Have a closer look at the posting guidelines. It explains you what is and what isn’t possible in forum posts.
I have been extremely nice so far. I just deleted about 20 posts with a discussion on whether you can use caps or not. I can give you the short version: no, you can’t. CAPITAL LETTERS make you generally look like a complete idiot who has just found out what the SHIFT key does. Other than that, it is extremely annoying to read messages that are solely written in capital letters.
Be careful dude. You are on the edge of the forums. One more step in the wrong direction and you might just fall off.
