MemberHi All,
I’m Kenny and I’m :new: to the forums. I did a search on here and didn’t find any info on this topic so here goes:
I just downloaded the newest version of Trillian Messenger Basic (3.1) a couple of days ago. Didn’t have any trouble setting it up or even getting new skins with The Configurator. It shows my Yahoo Account Email addresses and correctly notifys me of and shows the number of new emails in the “My Mail Accounts” section. But when I click on the link in Trillian to go to check my email, Internet Explorer blocks it (I’m using Windows XP Home SP2, latest up-to-date version of IE6) with the Information Bar popping up saying there is active script content that could be dangerous to my computer. When I go to the Information Bar at the top and click “Allow Active Content” then the Yahoo mail comes up. The problem is that it does this EVERY time I go to check my email and I have a couple of Yahoo accounts. Is there anyway to avoid this without disabling important blockers in, or completely turning off, the Information Bar? Any suggestions would be helpful and greatly appreciated.🙂 Kenny R., Jr.

Keymasteryou can edit your security settings in Internet Explorer and add the yahoo mail login url to the “safe sites”.
go to “Tools” on the top menu in Internet Explorer>>”Internet Options”>>”Security” tab>>click “Trusted Sites”>>”Sites…” button>>uncheck the “Require server verification (https:) for all sites in this zone” checkbox>>add “yahoo.com” (no quotes, if i had more information on the link i could make this more specific and therefore more secure) into the textbox under “Add this Web site to the zone:”>>”Add” button>>”Ok” button>>”Default Level” button>>move the bar to lowest position>>”Apply” button>>”Ok” button. try to follow the link from Trillian. hopefully this time it doesn’t annoy you.
you should switch to a overall safer browser: Mozilla Firefox. Internet Explorer has many unpatched security holes: http://secunia.com/product/11/ although I was surprised how fast they fixed the latest vulnerability.

MemberThanks User91 for your reply and suggestions. But I don’t think IE is blocking the actual Yahoo login site. I guess I didn’t give enough info in my first post. Sorry. Here is what pops up in the Address box of IE when the link in Trillian is clicked and right as the IE information bar pops up blocking it: C:Program FilesTrillianusersdefaultcachesfd18.html <–the number behind sfd is not always the same. When I click on the Information bar and click "Allow Blocked content", a Security Warning window pops up that says "Allowing active content such as script and Active X controls can be useful, but it can also harm your computer. Are you sure you want to LET THIS FILE RUN Active content?" Then when I click YES, it goes to my Yahoo Inbox. I'm assuming that it's writing the Yahoo login info (password) from this cache to the Yahoo mail account so it logs me in and opens up right to the Inbox. Does that sound right? Any new suggestions?

MemberYeah, it takes the info from your Yahoo account (On trillian) and attempts to log you in, if sucessful it’ll log you in. And IE is kind of weird and buggish, it’ll keep giving you that message so you’ll have to live with it. However, Mozilla Firefox doesn’t have any of these problems, and it’s a better browser overall in my opinion, otherwise there’s not much you can do except try a little trial and error in the IE settings for blocked sites, and allowed websites among other things that may be related.

MemberThanks to Quicksilver messaging me, we finally figured out how to keep from getting blocked by IE. You have to go the Tools menu on your IE then click on “Internet Options” then the ADVANCED tab, then scroll down to SECURITY and check the box in front of “Allow active content to run in files on my Computer”. And that will fix it. I would only do this if you have Firewalls set up and have an Anti-virus Program like Norton Anti-virus 2005. Thanks again Quick.
