when I direct connect with someone, eventually ill get a message like this
“The connection with (sn) was not successful. Make sure that your Buddy is using the latest version of AIM. Changing your settings in the Firewall preference may help. Also both you and your Buddy may need to adjust the settings of the firewall software on your individual networks.” how do I fix this? I dont have a firewall, and I REFUSE to update to 5.9.
then maybe the person your connecting with has a firewall.
Or maybe THEY have a different version of AIM than what you have?
someone on middleman forums had this problem today. someone said it might have to do with all of those problems with AIM recently. they said they might be working on AIM. it should work soon
actually ive always had this problem since 5.5 came out a while ago.
I kinda have the same problem too. I can connect to some people, and cant connect to others.
My one friend who has the same AIM Version as me, I can’t connect to. He has to send the connection to me, and then I am able to connect.
I have Windows XP Home Edition, SP2
Is there anyway, I can make it so I am able to connect to him?
Disable your Windows XP SP2 firewall. As far as I’ve read, AOL never really set a certain port for direct connections, it uses a range of [100?] ports.
i dont have a firewall or Windows XP SP2
