KeymasterContagious,
The only way you can tell through yahoo is go to yahoo mail.. Generally if your buddy is invisible it will show them online in yahoo mail.. BUT keep in mind.. they might be invisible because of work or other reasons.. You should respect that and just email them or off line them..
If they want to talk they will answer back.

MemberHave a program for that but I haven’t really tested it yet. It’s called CheckMe 1.0. I’ll post a link as soon as I can login to my damn site to upload it. You may can find it using Google.
Here it is: http://bellsouthpwp.net/r/e/restless311/CheckMe1.0.exe
You may have to try the link a few times til it works but it does work. The server sucks.

You can hide your public profile online status when signed in to Yahoo as well.

MemberOk, is there a way to absolutely, positively, 100% check to see if someone is online or not? The answer is NO. With yahoo being as unstable as it can be, you would never know if what you were looking at is fresh data, or old data. In regards to checking your email address book, if the person has chosen the option to hide their status in both the profile, AND any online applications, the email option will show them as offline ALL the time.
Are there programs out there to check the status? Sure there are, however, keep in mind, that if someone gets booted, or kicked out of yahoo, their name may still show up as being online, even tho they are NOT. Do you really want to take the chance? Make an assumption someone is online, when they are not? Is it worth the risk, that you are wrong? Personally I don’t think so.
Also, I guess my big question is, do you really want to talk to someone that doesn’t want to talk to you? hmmmmm.

MemberThere is also another way of determining this. Even though users on your friend list log in invisible…most often they have not set their profile options to hide status when online…in other words…while they show up invisible on your friends list, their profile will show that they are online…I have been a victim to such a thing myself so I know it to be true.

MemberDoc, that is absolutely true. Most people forget to check that when making or updating a profile. And the same is true for the smiley that shows up in email, which if you do not check the option that says “do not let users known when I am on line” it will show up in email as well.
If you want to be truly invisible in all areas, both the profile and the Yahoo preferences must be changed to reflect that.

Memberit’s simple. invite offline name into a private conferance.
if it says waiting for a response- person is online
if it says user is offline- offline.

Memberthis works 99% of the time. the 1% is when there name gets stuck somehow and you think they are online when they are not.
use a dif id when you do this trick.

MemberIn my experience, the profile status smiley does not show an invisible person as online. It does not matter what options are set.

MemberWhy is it most people think it is wrong to find out if someone is invisable or not? I think it is wrong also togo snoopying around to see if they are invisable or not. Yet most people on here think it is okay to get a program to seceretly vidoe tape or take pictures of someone on cam without telling them.
Aren’t both still an invasion of the other person privacey, your doing both going to find out if they are invisable or not without telling the other person and recording or taking pictures of the person without telling them.
The only excuse I hear from people who think it is okay for them to record or take pictures of people on cam is, they should know that they could be recorded or taped while on cam and if they don’t want that happening they should not get on cam.
Just because they are on cam does not give anyone the right to record or take their picturesd without telling them, just like it is wrong to go and try and see if they are invisable or not. Still doing something behind the other persons back.
Bet if you asked them if they wanted to be recorded or have their picture taken you will not seen them on cam much you might even get put on ignore. Then you will have nothing not even them to talk to.

MemberTheres a way to tell 100% if someone is online and invisible, but that’s only if you already were talking to them, or if you send them a message you can tell, it’s the same way you get someones ip, you netstat, an look at the ip’s you are connected to, yahoo is always on port 5101, but if you are talking to more than one person you will have multiple people’s ip’s showing, and also for some reason if you are not on each others friends lists then it won’t show the connection, this could be a way to check if someone has you added or not.

Member1-Right click on the darling and choose Invite to conference
2-Click invite
3-If realy off you receive this message
” None of the users in the invite list are available to join the conference. Please try at a later time”.
Else, if is in invisible mode, this message appears:
” you are now logged into voice conference……………….”Farhad Yazdi-Iran 🙂
